San Marcos rivers could see decrease in tourism

The San Marcos City Council passed an ordinance in May banning the public consumption or display of alcohol in city parks.

Oh good! There's too many damned drunks in this town. Look around you, nothing but barflies, as far as the eye can see.

Yep it's becoming ridiculous. Bars and man camps at the bars. 123 is dangerous. You can't even go grocery shopping on the weekend all the workers buying beer, wine, cigs, and BBQ

So true. We moved here from Tyler and my husband works in the old field but I never seen anything like it down here. Went down the river a couple of weeks ago during the week so it wasn't too bad. We don't drink either. They were here working on the water well the guy told me one night they had 8 fights at the bar on 123. All workers. That's sad.

Our city council and planers should be ashamed of themselves for allowing San Marcos to decline in the manner that it has the past several years, until now.
There's too many bars, and every time they build a new park, it's the drunks who invade them and take over them! You can make a day of driving around and counting all the bars here in town, it's just stupid, it's not a form of positive revenue in my book. It only contributes to the growing problems that drunken rowdiness, and drinking and driving fatalities that are brought upon the decent law abiding people of this town.
And in closing, No, I don't drink either. Never have, never will. Just because almost everyone else in town is a drunk, doesn't mean I should be branded as one myself!
