Idiot voted for the container ban. Stupid ban, stupid move. Litter issue can be handled more effefctively by MANY other means. Now people can't even stay hydrated in the summer heat - even WATER is banned.

Glad the law was passed. It's about time we quit letting tourists treat our town like a cesspool.

The voters have spoken loud and clear. And its the VOTERS who passed the law, not city council...

Now all the income generated from the river will float on down to another town, thus increasing NB's poverty level. Stupid decesion, just wait, when the money stops the rule will be overturned.

It was NOT a "decision" it was a democratically voted on LAW. The money can indeed float down the river along with the trashy tourists to another place. Look at the facts of the sales tax increases. Still money comomg in and always will despite river scum...

If more police were required to enforce the "can ban" then why not just enforce litter laws instead? Makes no sense to punish everyone for the crimes of the few. If there's a speeding problem in your neighborhood the city should outlaw automobiles? No, the city would increase enforcemnt of EXISTING traffic laws.

It was a decision, when people vote they make their "decision". Your elitist attitude will come back to haunt you. NB's population in and of itself cannot sustain all the business that have arrived because of the "river scum". When those business go away so do the jobs they provide. Jobless rate goes up, crime goes up, and a whole new set of problems arise. Typical liberal answer to everything, raise taxes to fix the problem.

Ok so voting made it a "decision". Call it what you want, but the net result is that it became a law nonetheless.
As a 3rd generation New Braunfels resident, I have seen the net result of ineffective laws regarding behavior on the river. We just don't need or want that type of tourist here. Voters like me made our wishes clear by voting yes on the can ban. If calling me an elitist makes you feel better about your ineffectual argument, then fine, call me an elitist.

River tourism may have indeed been the primary driver of the local economy in the past, but that time is long gone. The population did not increase 58% in 10 years due to river tourism. The population can in fact sustain local businesses. What do you think happens when the summer tourists are gone? We all manage to do just fine...
