When I was in 6th grade I had the biggest crush on Alex Rodriguez. He was like 19 and a rookie with the Mariners. He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and was proud of the way his mother raised him to be respectful, honorable and honest. Money and fame ate him up alive. Childhood heroes and crushes aside, its really despicable that he "cheated" to get his baseball records. He is no one's hero any more.

Disappointing behaviour from leaders, sports heroes and celebrities, is becoming too common. I think we need to start teaching our children that you can admire what someone does, but set their moral compasses and save the hero worship for the real heroes in their lives.

Alex is a disgrace. He should have learned after seeing what happened to all the other players before him who were caught with performance enhancing drugs. He thought he was invincible because he's "A-Rod".
Actually, calling someone an A-Rod kind of has a ring to it and now it's applicable.

I never liked him. Derek Jeter is the one with class.

Derek and Alex were competitive rookies... and then A-Rod took the money and ran to NY. Seattle Mariner fans turned their back on him. "Pay Rod" is still treading water and keeping afloat with his appeal... but it's not looking good for him after throwing others under his steroid bus.

I find it interesting that people are now 'going to bat'(LOL) for Pete Rose to get inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame! Really? I'm shocked. Banned forever means just that!

He's hot, it's true. But it's also true that he's a cheater and a liar. A lie by omission is still a lie. Also, he's become a Hollywood Phony. I'm a Pirate Fan of course and I dig Andrew McCutchen right now. I like the way his braids fly when he's running and he's an excellent ball player.

he got hit by a pitch last night and the benches cleared. He answered that sucker pitch with a monster home run. he went down the wrong road and its going to tarnish his career but when he's good at the plate, he's real good.

At the age of 38 with millions in investments and in the bank, a lifetime ban on baseball isn't going to hurt him much. I'd like to see him come clean and admit his mistakes and make his apologies like a real man instead of shifting blame on the league and team owners. But at this point I don't see that happening.

He doesn't want to end up like Lance Armstrong.
