SDP, Did you fail to read through his statements clearly or just take the most well thought out and logical argument to attack?
We all know it is not perfect, we all know there is a slight drop in MPG. No one here said it was the golden egg for all problems, it is merely one step in the long path to independence from foreign oil. The one person who seems to be able to clearly speak about this issue, with firsthand knowledge and you go after him? Do you have data to back up your claims? Do you have first hand experience to back this up? |

1 In a race to come up with the solution to rising gas prices overnight they made a stupid choice. I don't guess they thought about the fact that corn is a FOOD crop for both cattle and people. So the price of corn went up and it didn't stop the price of gas going up. All it did was complicate matters. It just goes to show DON'T put matters of the country's energy into government hands. They want a solution NOW and don't bother to think before they act. It didn't take a rocked scientist to have predicted that. |

Capitalism. Is that the entire scope of your thinking? How about whether it's a good idea or not? It's already been forced on us in the "free market". Our state in most areas here only sell gas cut with ethanol. Big brother strikes again. No, mommy state does. |

Well there certainly seems to be in some areas, like parts of Mexico, some southwestern parts of the U.S. and the middle east where they sometimes fight over who gets the water. |

Believe me there ARE some who will and have gone "against the grain" and they are paying and have paid dearly for it. As long as you are willing to pay the price--go ahead. I'm one of them. |

The problem is, there is a GROSS misunderstanding of the "village" concept. It has ALWAYS taken a "village" to raise a child: The parents bear and raise the child, the schools educated them, the churches tried to look after their souls, and the jobs and services each person produced gave them their livlihood. NEIGHBORS and friends watched out for them. But LOOK what foolows (and I do mean FOOLOWS; this is NO typo) Now the whole wide WORLD has to stick their little hands in the kids pockets. Bicycle helmets MUST be worn in some areas, they MUST have their drug education in school along with their sex ed just in case "mommy and daddy" missed something. The government has it's mitts in everything and WE have asked for it. THIS is the "village concept" gone awry. I have MUCH more to say on this; but this is NOT the thread for it. It's supposed to be about "ethanol" cut in with gas for fuel. |
