Finally, a happy ending to one of these stories! I hope the trucker was able to continue on and deliver the goods on time.

Unfortunately the truck driver is not able to continue in 99% of head on collisions, the trucks are strong but not that strong for an impact at that speed to remain fully functional. The sad part is that this accident regardless of the circumstances goers into a pool of "tractor trailer related" accidents. I hate to see that someone had to die but that is the price you sometimes pay for being an idiot. At least he is off the roads for good now. Now his family gets to sit and wonder why he was being such a moron, the driver of the truck get's to remember that he was involved in a fatality accident....in general everyone else has to deal with this guys issues.

There has got to be a better way to stop these guys. The truck driver could have been killed. Or a van with a family, or anyone even you! How many other cars were disabled?
Can't wait to hear the follow up on this story. I won't hold my breath, though.

My problem with this is that the moron "safety experts" will use this as a statistic to show that "speed kills" [sic].

"Speed Kills" or "Speed Sticks Kill"? Are these troopers trained in what to do in these situations or simply given tools and let them do as they may?

Ford did not make a Ford Focus in 1998. Great reporting!

The Ford Focus is a compact car introduced to North America in 1999 for model year 2000, now in its second generation. The North American models were initially co-developed with the international Focus, which had already debuted at the 1998 Paris Motor Show and were eventually manufactured and sold worldwide, including South America, Africa, Australia and Asia.

First generation North American Focus models paralleled the international Focus using the C170 platform for sedan, hatchback (3 and 5-door) and wagon configurations — with an intermediate facelift for the 2005 model year.

Where second generation North American Focus models continue with the C170 platform beginning with model year 2008 — in sedan and coupe configurations — the international Focus introduced in 2005 employs the newer C1 platform for sedan, hatchback (3 and 5-door) and wagon configurations.

Good riddance. Now we don't need to house him for 30 years in prison.

No, they just put uniforms on anyone, give them a patrol car and tell them to go out on the highways.

Of course they get training in the use of stop sticks! What sort of a moron are you?

Gee, I think someone used a nickname of Tobias. I seriously doubt it is his/her real name, but maybe you do.

According to our atlas and mapping software.... leaving St. paul and going straight South on 35 it would have taken that long for a Focus to get going over 100 miles an hour....

Well lets see ?? A ford Focus weighing about 3500 pounds going about 100 mph.A semi-truck weighing about 70,000 to 80,000 pounds going about 60 to 70 mph.hit head on.

I'm amazed they could tell it was a Ford Focus after that.

I dont believe a ford fuckus can go over 80 MPH. I would have the cops equipment checked out. He was probably aiming it at a 747 coming down to land.
