Letter: Stop hoping, start insisting
#1 Jun 23, 2008
There are serious problems with the Forest Highway project that will need to be addressed before it ever goes forward. It is my opinion that the entire project is fundamentaly flawed and will not work. The project has not addressed the bottleneck that will occur on the "S" turns below Inskip, the CEQA process for this project was more or less glossed over and rubber stamped by BCAG and is almost certain to face a court challenge, the road they have chosen is not even the best option for an escape route, another$4 million is not going to be nearly enough to get this project rolling. This has been Yamaguchi's pork barrel project for a few years now and it is his way of winning votes from the scared sheep that he has whipped into a frenzy on the ridge. Magalia residents loose too much sleep over the "what if" scenario of a fire up here. We have lived with fire since the first people moved here. Everyone needs to look at the realistic threats and realize that spending 20+ million on a project that is flawed in concept is not the answer.

I agree ... it is time for Wally Herger to put up or get out of the way. If the 4 million is not secured by November, then let's elect someone else who can get the job done!
