I think it's time you mind your own business and if you have a problem you should volunteer. Oh, take off the fagbag first and stop thinking your a State Trooper, YOUR NOT!

How about getting some more volunteers? people do work you know. volunteer agencies are getting less and less volunteers every year. and people like to complain but never help out.

Mr. Grogan, Please tell me you are kidding. The wonderful volunteers of the squad respond to, on average 3 calls per day or around 900 per year. They are bono fide calls not the made up man hours your fire dept. reports. When I send my donations to the squad I know they will be used for bandages fuel and other medical needs. Not kegs of beer and parties and parades. I have seen some of the fire dept. fundraisers in person and watched the members laugh knowing that none, and I stress none of the money donated will be used for firefighting purposes only for fun. I have been at council meetings when they ask for the very items they were fundraising for to be covered by the tax payers.
Mr. Grogan please re-think your attack on the squad. The state has made it very hard on the volunteers of any ambulance squad and even though they are bare bones they do an out-standing job.

I was going to respond to this, but Provolone22 pretty much said it all. I concur with him and find it truly laughable that a member of the Fire Department would criticize the ambulance squad. Since we are talking about getting rid of volunteers, how about we begin with the biggest waste in town....The Hilltop Fire Dept. (which we can rename the Hilltop Drunk Tank).

I really don't care either way as long as someone is answering the calls. I feel though for a town with not as many residents as other larger towns and being middle class the idea for paying for a service at this time will not benefit a town of our structure. If I have an emergency I bring myself and children to a hospital or the doctors because I own a car. The amount of calls that our volunteers were going out on have greatly drop since Hopatcong has switched over to a paid service. But they have more miles to cover and volunteers commuting to the location to get to headquarters then go out on a call played a large part in them switching to a paid service. Most volunteers live within a mile of headquarters. At this point they need to find more younger and new blood to join so then more hours will be covered during the day and evenings. If they had as many volunteers as the fire department this would not be a problem. We also get support from Budd lake and Roxbury so why pay for a service now. Also everyone bitches about taxes that will be a nice increase don't you think. I thank all the volunteers for their time and help. I appreciate the time you put out to help others, keep up the great work!

Blue sky, you will never get it. It is not about the money it is about the pride these people take in providing a needed service for free, to a town they love. The calls for service have not "greatly decreased" as you say. You should know as you get the reports monthly.
As far as a paid service costing the tax payers money you are again mis-informed. There is no cost to the town from the provider, they charge the individual patient. Some trips would be covered by insurance (if the patient has insurance) and some would not leaving the individual to pay the cost. The service makes money by funneling the patient to the service's hospital. It is a big scam.
As long as our squad can still do it there should be no issue.

Yes in the May or June council meeting it was discussed, check the minutes on the decline of out of town calls. As I stated I do not have a problem either way on the subject. I hope that the people we elect will make the best choice for the community. If that is leaving it as volunteers then have it that, if the town shows a lack of volunteers coming out to support the service then they should do what is right for the towns. Thank you for correcting me on how the paid service works. I was unaware of that. But I do see your point, the people do it to help and please do not take my wording wrong. I love the volunteers for what they do and I take on my own volunteer projects to fill that part of making me happy to help another individual. If I was on the squad yes I would be upset if they took it away but I would hope they were taking it away because they noticed a lack in volunteers and support. But you have to read what I wrote again because I said that our volunteers can get to headquarters in a short amount of time but other larger towns that have longer trips to HQ have more timing issues. Having a paid service would insure that individuals are always ready for longer commutes to residence homes. Our towns at this time period do not have the call volume as other towns face and our volunteers have support from other surrounding towns. We are able to have a better reaction time then other surrounding towns because of our size.

I think "net" it is my business, when it comes to the safety of the people of stanhope and netcong it's a concern of every taxpayer. when you dial 911 for an emergency you want a fast response not one that takes 2 or 3 calls to get them to respond if they even respond. then you go to mutual aid.Yes i know times are tough and its hard to get members. that's why a paid service makes sense to me.

Its Hilltop Fire Company they are not a department its a company in a department get that right! Secondly that comment is a horrible thing to say because they dedicate their time to a good cause! I watched those hilltop firefighters pumpout 4 basements on the same road in an hour and a half and they did a great job thinking about the people. One of them knocked door to door and asked if they could help us! dont bag on them asshole! you have no idea what your talking about

So it is ok for Mr. Grogan to attack the volunteers that make up the Ambulance Squad?

wait a minute no one is attacking anyone here!!! i want a service thats gonna answer the first call for assistance not a second or third or even at all. say your having a heart attack every second counts before you get help and the squad doesn't always answer the first call or second or third then you wait longer for mutual aid. i know times are tough but the people who call 911 for a stomach ache or a headache need to get a grip and drive there lazy asses to the er.,that would probably cut down the time the squad members waste on bogus calls and would allow them to answer the real emergency

Are you for real? Listen to yourself already! This in not "Captain Kirk and the Star Trek cast" here that we are talking about, that can just transform themselves to appear at the Squad. Nor does the Star Trek Voyager come and scoop them all up to get them all there in a mere matter of split seconds for God's sake. They are volunteers who have to get from wherever the Hell they are you nut case! They roll out of bed in the middle of the night.......... Even they were paid to do it the samething would be the case, unless they all bunk there in shifts. You are Freakin' Crazy Buddy! Why don't you try it sometime, and time your Happy Butt and see how long it takes you to get there up and running the Trucks. OMG! You are out of your mind.....

sara get a grip of yourself, i'm a volunteer fireman here in netcong and i know how long it takes to respond to an emergency so RELAX... and by the way they have duty crews and it still takes a second or third request to get them to respond.

Well Michael, then why are you Bitching about if you know how difficult it can be for them? By the way, why are you responding to my opinion with your negative Icons? Try to be positive in your comments about these people instead of being ignorant. You are showing your intelligence level, which looks as if it is lacking somewhere. Perhaps it takes you too long to get on the stick with the calls, and your blaming others? I know Stanhope and have seen them bolt all the time. I can't answer for you and your guy's!
