Uh huh, and the "powers that be" are still playing the Turkey Day football games between Coaldale and Lansford in their pea brains. LOL The politics, personalities, and the protected interests/agendas make cooperation impossible. A generational shift will be necessary, and then it will be too late.

And how long do you think the little boro of Summit Hill can go on? The population in the GAR surpassed the current population of Summit Hill long ago. Yours is another little mind.

Too bad LC&N didn't buy everyone out years ago and strip the coal out.
Truth is Lansford,Summit Hill and Coaldale should merge but that's just not going to happen. All 3 towns would have to have a audit of they're books and people would be going to jail,Past and present.

I would welcome a state directed audit in Lansford. A lot of jumbled records and missing information, as per tonight's Times News article and a string of others, generally spells something hidden. Four years of records regarding the sewage transmission fund are missing. Suspicious? You betcha!

From the Times News (Feb. 16, 2012):

In other matters Wednesday, Councilman Tommy Vadyak spoke at the beginning of the meeting, as a citizen, saying that at least $470,000 has been taken from the Sewer Transmission Fund over the years to pay general bills.

Vadyak said he obtained information through the Right To Know law, but said four years of data is missing.

Good idea but rather far fetched in my opinion. From a financial stand point it makes sense to combine the resources and come together. However as a direct result of the small town politics, attitudes, and mentality around here it would be virtually impossible to accomplish and that is the very reason this area struggles with growth and finances.

Better plan would be for the government to take control with eminent domain and turn both towns into a miltary proving ground.
