Pookie---I had a lot of time to think, today. Sat in a mall while the missus shopped her little heart out. Like to sit on those nice little benches and watch the sites. Was thinking about the election, past and present. Thought came to me. When Dobias steps down as DA, who says his replacement must come from within ? Pook--I think your person [in the election we don't talk about] should run for DA. Might have been looking at the wrong seat. From all that I have heard, she'd make one hell of a DA. Nothing would get past her. And, she would indeed be the very first female DA ! I'd support her.

Interesting, you stir that up and you could make trouble, Lions and tigers, o my! Not the first time that the idea was floated, I think there is element in the DA's office that has had concerns about it for a long time from what I hear. That's not our issue right now, but I had an idea that I'd like to float: How about if we conduct a campaign analysis town by town, could be very informative and people may weigh in? Pick a town or a township and we can start, after you, sweet baboo....

Well, I think it only appropriate we start with the county seat ! Jim Thorpe ! Lots of action it seems going on there. A boat load of candidates with quite a few "unknowns". Especially School Board. Some of the more well known political names seem to be split, this time out. McGinley faction as well as the Hoherchak faction seem split not only on the judicial race but the Commissioner's race as well. Plus there is the possibility that two residents could be vying for the coroner's position in the fall. What sayeth guys ?

I was going to suggest we debate an issue with the judicial candidacies, one each for several days. This weeks debate question can be: Is Matika placing too many signs out too soon allowing for Lavelle to pick up momentum later in the campaign? Inquiring mind(s) wanna know?!?!

Oh c'mon. You've been in the liqour cabinet, again, haven't you ? I, for one, don't think the signs will allow Lavelle to pick up momentum. I don't see how that guy is going to pick up momentum, period ! We've talked and talked about signs. Hopefully, there will be alot more to discuss about the judicial race other than damn signs. Unlike Lavelle, Matika's appear to all be on private property. Therefore, it's up to the property owner as to how early they want to show their support. That's my story and I'm sticking to it !

I agree ! I want to get back to the DA's office and the candidate I think would make an excellent DA. C'mon, Pook, evidently the subject was discussed somewhere at some point.

Because she's TOUGH ! I think she ran for the wrong office. I think her personality, etc. would make for the perfect DA. She would keep a good eye on that office, demand the best and timely work, and be hard on the criminals. I gotta admit guys, it wasn't until we started this blog that I discovered the "weakness" in that office. I think Pax is the one who first brought it out. She wouldn't take any guff. From anybody. I think in alot of ways, having a good and tough DA would be even more prestigious. Now, stay the hell out of the booze ! NO SIGN DISCUSSION.

I think we should stick to the elections at hand, who knows what the future holds in races not yet to be. Enough fun churning away at what we have. Now, Baboo, Jim Thorpe is surely a good place to start, right in the heart of the vipers' nest!

Can someone at least give us in their opinion who the favoritess are for school board and council in Jim Thorpe?

I would think Strub, for school board and one or two from the mountain.

Not sure how council will shake out.

I think Clem McGinley is the only sure bet on the JT School Bd race this time. Word around is that a lot of people want to take down Kattner. With so many candidates, the ones that have the biggest group of family/friends voting will win. Anything goes. Despite the efforts of Hoherchak, Matika is making ground in JT in the judge race, and the commish race will run in the primaries as expected, too soon to see what will happen in JT in the general with the commish race. Stianche will take the coronor's race in the primary in JT on dem side. Borough Council is all up in the air at them moment, and there is twitter out and about over Mousseau getting fired off the zoning board. That's all I know at the moment.

Not me. No one has stolen my identity yet. Only my hooch!!!!!
In my opinion, Strubby Dooby Do will probably get re-elected to school board, but get no where near Commish. Melber should also get elected having proven he can at least win in JT proper. Dr. Mcginley should also be a shoe-in. Dont know any of the others although I think Partenio is the GOP heads brother. Will be an interesting race.

You think Melber is still that strong after the loss to Sofranko? Won't the number of candidates cut up his support? I know you are saying the opposite. It just seems that PF is determined to get people on the board this time. I was wondering if there is an official slate being pushed on top of the mountain to limit the split vote up there?

Inquiring--you're going to have to register. Will save all of us time from trying to figure out if it's you and we won't be spinning our wheels. I think I have to agree with Indy on the Melber issue. Last time out---he ran for council and mayor and got beat. Too soon for him to try again. Gotta take a break when the voters keep turning you down. The mountain has been trying to get a block on the school board for awhile. This crop of candidates is pretty much unknown. Will be interesting to see the results. I agree that Clemmy will get in. Strubinger is a bewilderment. No matter what he says or does--the guy gets elected. I agree that his showing in the Commissioners' race will be fairly poor, but, I wouldn't count him out for a return to the SB. Nalesnik has been a disappointment. Doing nothing. Don't know if he's depending on the "old guard" or what, but I believe he is in trouble. Man, I really missed it ---didn't know Mousseau was ousted. Who replaced him ? Sofranko have no pull there. He and Mousseau are pretty tight. Didn't think he would let his buddy go without at least trying.

I guess I'll have to register. I think it was Kim Roberti who replaced Mousseau. I agree on the Sofranko/Mousseau relationship. Interesting how sofranko allowed that to happen. So much for any pull in his hometown. Can't even keep his boy on as a soliticitor.
