I know Mickey Angst well and I know he is a solid supporter of JROTC. I talked to him recently and he hinted about some problems with Ken Markovich but he would not level with me on that either. i also asked him about his court case and he seemed confident about that. On the JROTC matter I recall he was upset about the failure of the business manager to level with him on some costs and I also remember he complained about the way some sex thing on a JROTC bus was handeled. What ever did happen with that?

The only issues with Ken are in Mickey's mind. I guess Mickey feels that if you get hurt on the job you're not entitled to workman's compensation. As far as the bus issue nothing illegal was done and he wants to involve the police. The mindless old man should either get a life or drop over dead

I'm not at all impressed by the services the JROTC provide at Veterans burial services.I suggest they observe the services provided by the Tamaqua American Legion.Too bad many of the veteran organisations in the Panther Valley are nothing more than a cheap place to get a beer.
Let's see, actual veterans, who have served countless years vs a 14/15 year old student. I believe the JROTC does the best they can to honor the veterans of the area when it comes to funerals.
I applaud the Tamaqua American Legion for the services they provide.
I'm saddened by the fact that if you're a veteran you would cut down another veteran organization.

Hey Frank does Irene let you watch when she does those oral sexual favors to Mickey or does she let you help? Everybody laughs at you about her and Mickey. By the way Mickey does not support JROTC in the slightest sense of the word. Is John going to share some of the $50K with you and Irene.

It is what it is.The legion I belonged to had about 6 active veterans and countless social members who filled the bar every night. The commander was a drunk who at one time lived at the bar and some Sons and daughters of veterans were running the place into the ground.I found just about the same situation at a VFW I belonged to in another part of the state except there the Veterans ran the post.
I just attended a funeral where the Tamaqua legion did the services and it was 1ST rate actually better than any I've been to.
Far as the PV JROTC goes,I hope they can afford to keep funding it due to the fact I rather see the kids involved in that than what most kids in the area get into.Question is how much is it costing taxpayers and can they afford it.Remember that teacher pension issue is coming due.

I agree with Irene - a first, probably. Get the scores up (meaning the kids can read)and attack the debt without doing further harm to the many elderly taxpayers who are trying to keep their homes. If you want leadership skills, join the scouts ... they have uniforms and badges and respect the flag. Once again, I see more attention paid to the icing and little to the cake.

Face it PV, the system is financially broke(n). With an 88% collection rate ... meaning it will only get worse ... the days are numbered.

According to an article in the Wed.times news the PVSD business manager said the lights are kept on at PV stadium in Lans until 10 pm so people can walk the million dollar track. Very few people new that until he mentioned it. Turn them off...save some money.
Then he threw the PV taxpayers under the bus by saying that we can afford the increase in school taxes if we just give up a few pizzas a year. What a real jerk. Cut out the obvious waste and PV will slowly crawl out of the hole but it won't last because the middle school bond payments will become larger each year and people will be screaming WTF.

We've given up more than a few pizzas over the years to pay the goddamned taxes to a nonfunctioning school district. I felt resentment when I read that line about the pizzas ... my first thought was, "Smarmy bastard." Many of them don't really know or maybe care about the struggle made by those who worked all their lives for peanuts and are now left with only the shells. The remark Hiles made about the elderly left a lot of bitterness - karma, baby. You're right; the situation will only get worse.

Sorry loser but get the real facts, the stadium lights haven't been on until 10 for the past 3 years. I didn't get a chance to read that article in the fish wrapper, since my bird normally needs a new lining in her cage before I get finished with it

Stop putting down PV.Didn't you see the news last night? PV won the state recycling competition so I see a future for those kids as sanitation engineers that I can use at my landfill and on my garbage trucks

It was a NATIONAL competition they won, not state. And since carbon county has stopped recycling all together it now winds up going in to the regluar trash.

House bill 76 would end all this. Isn't it time that you finally own you home? More money isn't going to save the schools that may take kids and parents that actually care! http://www.ptcc.us/

How are they going to get the scores up when they are letting go some teachers with the highest scores? If that's true, they're not doing what they say. Cut the big bills that aren't necessary like the top schools do.
