They at least were honest so they had no electric, there are some that just wired in an illegal tap for power and paid a fifty dollar monthly bill. How much squirrel turds do you have in your attic and crawlspaces? Typical fool kicking others in the face when thier down on the ground to make yourself feel better, now thats a man. Loser.
You do know that there are assistance programs to help people with utilities, don’t you? Oh, that’s right, they were illegal apartments so they don’t qualify. There’s no need to live somewhere illegally or not even have money for something as cheap as water. Running a generator costs much more than LIPA so that was just pure stupidity on their behalf. There’s absolutely no excuse for not keeping a sanitary house and it‘s very inexpensive. I’ll bet they had money for beer. They had money to run a generator. Who the hell schitts on the floors besides animals anyway? The filthy disgusting pigs made their bed and they got to sleep in it. If you’ve ever taken a ride around Mastic, it’s not the only house like that. It truly is the wh|te trash capitol of Long island.

Why should I have to help 4 able-bodied adults take care of their children? Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Here's how I help, by giving advice: Don't have kids if you can't take care of them. Get out and get a job so you can pay your water and electric bill. Clean your house. Don't drop a deuce on the living room floor. Don't have 14 cats and 4 dogs.

How am I doing so far? Do you think I've helped?

I do my part to help whoever I can, but only those who I see are looking to help themselves. I don't know thier situation, wasn't there and didn't see it with my own two eyes. I do know however that the government and the media does exageratte things, one dog dropping could easily have been written into feces all over the place. I for one am not going to kick anyone in the face when thier lying on the ground. i hope they get get thier acts together and get thier kids back.

It's nice to see you are such a humanitarian. So tell me, have you done anything for these people besides defend their honor on a Topix thread?

If Uncle Jesse is such a humanitarian..he should offer to house these people so that they are not living in squallor. And then they can turn his house into a state of deplorable conditions!. It's very obvious that these people are mentally ill. I don't care if you have more money than you know what to do with..or you don't have a pot to pee in..You can keep your house clean..and if you do not have electric and water..then work two jobs!.

I think one dog dripping INSIDE the house is more than enough to qualify someone as being filthy.

They had pets while they could barely take care of them selves makes me wonder who the real animals are.

No running water= no toilets flushing,I could go on but you get the idea.

And quite frankly only the kids deserve help not the lazy filty triffeling adults who obviously did not care about them.

And this slum lord who collected the money from them should also be prosicuted.

It's not acceptable for there to be ANY amount of dog turd on the floor, especially when there are children present!! People who choose to live in filth have no pride!!

Why should the slum lord be prosecuted?. Because the tenants lived in squallor?. Did the slum lord shut off their utilities?. Probably not. When you lease property, you are responsible for the utilities unless other arrangements have been agreed upon. And if the property was in poor condition before the tenants signed their lease and occupied the premises..well that's their problem. I'm sure that no one forced them to live there. And if they weren't paying the utilities...they sure as hell were not paying rent either!.

Hey, the dog could’ve been sick and dropped one on the floor while they were all out working (LOL). What I’d like to know is how the “dog” managed to smear it on the walls and dry it out before they all came home.
By the way, you don’t need running water to flush a toilet. There’s no excuse why they couldn’t get a bucket of water to flush with - or clean the house - or do the dishes - or clean themselves - or water the lawn. Wait a minute, scratch the lawn suggestion.

Don't know them, didn't look like they were trying to help themselves as far as i can see. However, I could have wired them for reduced electric bills and illegally restored thier water service. I am not to judge anyone since my name is not God.

There are several articles on this including ones that detail the living conditions. It was not one dog dropping but also included bottles of urine. There is no excuse for living in filth. It does not take any money to clean. If they were so poor they should have taken the 14 cats (yes .....14) and 2 dogs to the Northshore Animal league and put them up for adoption. The victims here are the poor children. These adults should have done something to better thier livig conditions and to keep these children clean and safe.

C'mon, let's be real here Jesse, there were what? 4 adults living in the house? They can still remain lazy and work 25 hours/week at minimum wage, and still bring in $3,000/month, which I believe would cover electricity, running water, and a bottle of Mr. Clean.
