Full story: Newsday

As part of a campaign against substandard housing, Town of Brookhaven officials Thursday announced the condemnation of a Mastic house they said has some of the worst living conditions the town's inspectors have ever seen.

IRS should audit the homeowner,I would bet he is not declaring the rental income.
Should notify IRS on all these illegal alien flop houses and get some tax money back. That would put a quick end to multi tennant occupancy. "SHOW IRS THE MONEY"

Rental Permits are a tax. They serve no other purpose whatsoever besides raising rents to tenants. The house is being used as a house so why the permit? If a house is in degraded condition or has violations they can be dealt with without a rental permit. Should we have ownership permits for owner occupied homes too? Why not?

Rob King is one of the kindest and decent people I know and a very good administrator. Why don't News12, Lesko, Romaine, and Newsday investigate ALL the facts before trying to trash a person's career publicly?

Look Mrs. King, when a school administrator becomes a slum lord, shouldn't the people know about it?

So the guy had a house for rent, and someone was willing to rent it. Guess the rent was cheap. What's the problem?

The "problem" was that there was no running water, no electricity, no heat along with filth, animal feces, and who knows what else. Perhaps that's no big deal if one lives in a cave in Kentucky, but on Long Island, it's a problem. Children need the aforementioned utilities and basic necessities for survival.

It wasn't the landlord's fault that these people were living in filth. He didn't krap on the floor. As far as the utilities go, isn't it possible that the turd tenants weren't paying the bills?

OMG!!! Like it’s so not their fault!!! They’re like poor and can’t afford to live in a nice house with utilities. OMG, shouldn’t the landlord clean the house for them? It’s like his house so like he’s responsible. Like not everyone’s rich like you and can afford toilet paper.

Some people here are just straight up snob a holes. They at least were honest so they had no electric, there are some that just wired in an illegal tap for power and paid a fifty dollar monthly bill. How much squirrel turds do you have in your attic and crawlspaces? Typical fool kicking others in the face when thier down on the ground to make yourself feel better, now thats a man. Loser.

I'm a snob because I don't condone children being forced to live in squalor? It doesn't cost much to keep a clean house, and if you think otherwise, I don't even want to know what your home looks and smells like.
