The off duty officer went trigger happy and went home to retrieve a gun, instead of calling 911. Then follows the dog to it's doorfront after the fight ended and fires 2 shots..1 killing the dog and the other into the vinyl siding. The fight had been broken up already, and now the owners have a dead dog and blood splatter and a bullet hole to fix.
Stupid and reckless behavior on the officer's part.

wonderful reporting on the part of the illegal immigrant employed by Newsrag

Police say the owner tried to separate the dogs while a neighbor sprayed maced them.

Rottie owner you are exectly right

Vigilante city cop
why doesn't Newsrag provide the street address on Lincoln Ave for the zero-hero trigger happy cop
I know a couple of hundred Pit Bull owners that want to have a talk with him
Newsrag also failed to mention the dog owners brother Kevin Lynch was kicking and beating Oreo with a nightstick

Yes journalism at it's finest. Because Oreo was a pit bull, this makes the officer look like a hero...NOT. Very reckless. Of course he will scream self defense after the fact the fight was broken up before he returned with a gun.

I wasn't there so I did not witness the incident. I am commenting on something I've only read about so kindly correct me if I am mistaken:

1. Oreo and his owener were waling down the street.
2. They came upon another pooch in his own yard.
3. Oreo begins to maul the other pooch despite the efforts to two grown men trying to intervene.
4. Off-Duty Policeman lives nearby and tries to help while another bystander deploys mace.
5. Off-Duty Policeman follows Oreo and his owner home to insure against any further incident.
6. Oreo turns and charges the Off-Duty Policeman.
7. Off-Duty Policeman shoots Oreo.

Is it not true that since Oreo mauled another dog despite being maced and beaten by at least two grown men, that Oreo already sealed his own fate? One way or the other, he was being put down that night...
Is everyone who lives along the route his owner takes to walk him every day supposed to run inside and lock themselves in until he passes? Apparently, the owner can't control him. Suppose that was a kid instead of another pooch...

I doubt Oreo would have been put down that night since the dogs were already broken up from the fight. They both survived. In the video the owners of the dog say the dog was shot at the front doorstep of their home . And they have blood splatter on the front doorstep, plus another bullet hole that penetrated the vinyl siding. Even though the officer says he fired 1 shot. You can clearly see the blood and the other bullet hole in the video. Also there wasn't a trail of blood leading to the steps. If the dog returned home to it's doorstep, why would an officer fire 2 shots? Both sides of this story are conflicting, but the video shown on TV might favor the owner's story.

Wish I could find it. It was first on TV either Fox 5 or News 12 Long Island. Then repeated on the internet. I'm still looking.

These attacks by dog-fearing gun-owning cops must stop. There was another attack in Clinton Twp, MI too. In that case the dog was shot in the face while sitting in its own yard trying to get back into the fenced in back yard.
