Listen they did what they had to do. That's THEIR business - I'm glad all's well with the kids and family. By the way, do YOU have any kids? If you don't you have no clue

I think a better picture would have been to show the mother hugging both her children and not just kissing the saved child.

You negative peolpe make me sick!!! There is a child that is healthy now, thanks to her sibling. I'm sure that sibling will be honored to know he saved his sisters life. If I had the choice to save a child or even a family member, I would jump at the opportunity. My three children are young adults now, and i have always told them that if anything had ever happened to them, I would choose for them to be organ donors. Since they wer minors, I would have made that decision for them. How is that any different? God Bless those parents for making a decision that must have been the hardest one they ever had to make. Would all of you rather they choose to take their child off life support if it ever came to that? Then the next group of people would have come and called them killers. I could go on forever about this. I am so proud for them for making the decision they did. I hope they never, ever second guess the choice they made. They are my "heros."

The Trebing family is one of the most disfunctional families I've ever heard of. Children are human beings, and should not be conceived so that they can be involuntary donors.
And the parents certainly seem to be spending a lot of media time trying to make their consciences feel better.
Why don't you get out and campaign against abortion, sexual pedators, abusive parents, ect.? If you are so righteous, there are many other causes to fight for. God Bless the whole family!

To those of you who hold such high judgmental moral opinions of what is right and wrong with our society, this is one you should rethink. Look at your own kids and tell me you would not do everything in your power to save your child’s life? Especially when today’s technology would allow you the opportunity to be able to make such a decision.
I was just one of several blood donors for Katie honored with the opportunity in keeping her alive until a cure could be found. I believe it will be the proudest day in Christopher’s life when he fully realizes what he was able to contribute that saved his sisters life!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Trebing Family
Okay, so when my child is sick and or dying, it's alright for me to lose my morals? These were not the first parents faced with the clear possibility of their child dying young, nor, unfortunately, are they the last.
There will always be immoral ways out of things, that's why we harp so much about the importance of morals in our society, in the hope that people will hang on to them, even during dark times, no matter what. In the end, it's part of what keeps us civilized.

Morally, this was a bad decision on the part of the parents. This is not the way to treat human beings.

Maybe everybody should mind their own business and hope you are never in their shoes! How could anyone say it was a bad decision on the parents part or it's twisted beyond belief. Go try and save all of those people that are shaking their babies to death or beating them to death. Focus on that!!!!!! Jerks

this is a comment board, if everybody here minded their own business, there would be no one here commenting...just because someone doesn't agree with YOUR way of thinking doesn't make them wrong.

For all of you judgemental jerks who say all kinds of things on this blog you are the same jerks that write crap all the time. You are all biggots and ass*****. I hope you are never faced with the same problem and this is why God works in mysterious ways they gave the couple the way to give there child life and bring another into the world and love him also. God also gave Dr.s the brains to work his miracles. This family truly loves there children, I suppose you all would let your child just suffer and die. If you all don't have nothing nice to say did your mom not teach you not to say anything at all.

I think he will be just fine, because it all depends on how his parents raise him, and what they teach him. He just might LOVE his sister, if they teach love to him and to her.

Will the parents love for the donor child ever really be the same. Always in the background is the fact that the child was created for the sole purpose of being a donor for the already living child.

The morality of the issue can be debated forever without a solution truly acceptable to all

I don't think anyone would mind if they kept it THEIR business but there's an article about this every other week in Newsday so they are clearly NOT trying to keep it private. I think that by publicizing their actions in this way they have justifiably opened the door to criticism because they are obviously willing to accept the laudatory comments.

For the record, I think this story is tacky. I wonder how many embryos were destroyed during their search for the one they needed? I wonder how this little boy is going to feel when he grows up - cause I'd always feel second best if I were him.
