Yes, be thankful to still be alive, However, Hundreds more continue to die due to illnesses aquired because we were there that horrible day: leukemia, lymphoma, emphysema, lung cancer, sarcoidosis to name a few~all thanks to our corrupt, inadequate government officials!
How many years have passed and we're still getting screwed!

Your kidding right? The man is only asking for the funds to be "set aside" for the treatment for all the illnesses the responders now have!!! I guess you read it wrong!!!

This guy was NOT a first responder nor does he have cancer or anything else related to 9/11. He is an idiot who dropped a beam on his foot and wants a billion dollars for his stupidity. It was an accident that has NOTHING to do with 9/11 - say that 100 times

Thanks for this article but the fact still remains close to 10,000 FDNY,NYPD,Port Authority Police & Personnel,EMS First Responders & Rescue,& Thousands of FDNY Retirees Classified as "Volunteers" NOT Firefighters & FD Volunteers are Dead,Dying,Seriously ill & Seriously Injured and NOT One Government Agency Gives a Flying Hoot.
I am one of those FDNY Retirees who is called a "Volunteer" instead of my just do as a Firefighter & FDirst Responder. I am extremely ill, I have had one major Spinal Surgery & Psychologically Permenantly Scared & Depressed. Oh! Did I forget to mention Totally Broke and filing Bankruptcy? NOT one dollar of the $Billions$ President Bush promised while standing on "The Pile" at "Ground Zero" has made it to my pocket, strange? NOT one dollar from the NY State Crime Victims or Wokers' Compensation has made it to my pocket, stranger? NOT one penny available even at a 0% or 2% interest rate to the thousands of "Us" who have spent every penny We had on Medicines and Doctors and Medical Exams not covered by The FDNY 9-11 Rescue Workers Programs or FEMA or anyone. Amazing how wonderful "We" were All Praised for "Our" Efforts and then Promised help and financial aid but nothing but a Giant Zero now that "We" actually need aid and assistance.
The final slap in my face and thousands of my Brothers & Sisters from All The Emergency Workers Agencies is that No Presidential Candidate has even mentioned "Our Plight" or even mentioned getting Assistance for "Us as part of anyone's platform or even speeches that mention "Our" plight. So here I sit ty[ping away for the untold thousands of times to deaf eyes and ears. But thanks for letting Me air out my frustrations.
