Who needs books? No one can read nowadays.

I would strongly urge all residents of the Smithtown area to support this proposal. Your library is the the best deal in town. People move to Smithtown for the schools, and quality of life. There is a rich variety of resources and marerials available to anyone in the library district.

(Otherwise, your children could end up like the Bob, the above poster. Enough said.)

I guess you missed my sarcasm, not easy to translate into print, I know. Actually, people want the Hauppauge school district which has the lower taxes thanks to the Smithtown Industrial Park in Hauppauge.

Hauppauge only recently created their own library district. They used to use the Smithtown library.

Hauppauge? Sure, I looked there. Good luck finding a house that isn't with smelling distance of the dump, near hight tension wires, or within hearing distance or a highway. LOL
I lived on the South Shore and Smithown taxes are a bargain in comparison.

I think we should do away with ALL government services so we don't have to pay ANY TAXES! Who needs snow removal? Traffic lights? Police? Schools? Luxury items, if you ask me. Now if a private company were to charge us a subscription for the services we actually use, why it would save us all a ton of money!

I intend to vote NO on the proposed Library expamsion. It still is way expensive and too much for tax burdened residents of this town.
I agree with Supervisor Vecchio that some upgrade of heating and changes to lighting are necessary and shold be done, but not for a cost of more than 20 millio. With today's internet, it seems to me that research can be done on the web. The argument that we need more space for book seems weak. How many books never get taken from the shelves. I'll bet it's a large percent.

Now days we use internet to find the books and read. I see less people go there to get the books. Go to NY City Library
There is no use to have expansion Libraries
Its Polices and raising cost our taxes and support and they help consrtuction work their money flow with the Town

It's nice you can use a computer. When is the last time you read a book and what was it?
You don't want to pay to improve your local library, but you don't mind going into NYC to use a Library there?
Please explain.

I have lived in Smithtown for 44 years and the library on Indian Head road is always empty. I would like to see some attendance figures and the number of people using the library..26million dollars after interest we are talking more like 100 million. Whos brother inlaw is getting that contract. It would be cheaper for the town of smithtown to broadcast FREE wifi to all their tax paying residents. Who uses the library anymore?
