I assumed we would not hear from the board after the bond was defeated! I voted no to the theft of my money going to the rat hole that is the library system in Smithtown! There are too many branches with too many high paid employees! Smithtown and Commack are geared to the automobile and If you need the library get in your car and go! We don't need one in every town! The days of going to the library for researching papers and articles are gone! The internet is the way to go! This bulls h i t of putting this before the public again has got to stop ! Once before the public and it should be over!

Most of the libraries in Suffolk County have EXPANDING, not declining circulation statistics. As previous posters have pointed out, libraries are essential tools for the information age, as well as community centers. When's the last time you were in a library -- or used a database via the library's webpage?

Wow...since when is the Internet the source for the most reliable information? You could learn something from the librarians. Public libraries are a great equalizer, just like public schools. Ah yes...but I forgot...public schools are also evil; depriving you of the much needed funds to fill the gas tank of your brand new Escalade.
