Another war and now another heroin problem on the street.pin point pupils, sniffles and a need for more money to fuel their addictions.Do not think you are oblivious to your elders who were sandwiched with vietnam and now iraq.Heroin abusers are easy to spot, just like the two bozos who came to clean my chimney and wanted to do more than needed for the extra cash to get that monkey off their backs.

Read more carefully. The POLICE said Chunga killed the grandmother, not the paper.

p.s. he probably did.

That's a crock! This is a newspaper story, not a court verdict. If you are on a jury, you are supposed to buy into that line. For myself, if I'm on a jury, the fact that the cops said he did it gets him 90% there. Too bad.

Law enforcement does not want heroin addicts in their jails[dealers are often abusers as well]who have no money to feed back the system[unlike DWIs]and are medical risks that would drain the system of its medical resources. In other words it's not worth it to get involved.Big pharmaceutical that made oxycotin was fined from our government for the addictions it caused.Do you think the money will go towards who needs it most or will it pad the pockets of our endearing politicians.

Yeah, it says "POLICE SAID". This is why police arrest people. When an arrest is made it means the police and the District Attorney believe this person is responsible. That is also why the District Attorney prosecutes the case in court. Obviously many of you have no clue as to how the judicial system works.....GOOFBALLS

What happened to 'innocent unless proven otherwise? My sympathy to Martha's family and to Victor's family because they are both victims of a huge drug problem in Smithtown.
Why are cops not stopping drug dealers in Smithtown? Why wait until drugs 'fry' these boys minds and they do crazy things? For God's sake, you have two families victim of a drug growing society. Don't put blame where it doesn't belong !

.....But court-appointed attorney Jason Bassett of Central Islip said Chunga has no criminal record and said his client denies any involvement in the crimes. "This is quite something to become your first offense," Bassett said, adding that Chunga had "repeatedly" asked police for a lawyer but was denied access to one Tuesday....

Maybe someone should inform his attorney that Chunga has TWO outstanding court cases. He was in court on Monday for them. Larceny & driving without license, and speeding. He even jokes about the larceny charges on his myspace. He got arrested for stealing TAMPONS! WOW...he's tough.

Poor Martha had just had surgery so he was more than likely trying to steal her pain medication. Regardless, I am glad that he is being held responsible for his actions.

There are a lot of people out there still making insensitive comments regarding all that has happened and I just want to ask you to stop. Put yourself in the familys' shoes for the moment, imagine your grandmother, mother or sister and how you would feel having this happen, having it all over the news and having people leave insensitive comments.

Just because you graduated, went to school with, know somebody through them, heard a rumor, know a little of this or that about the family or if you just plain feel the need to make a racial or political comment does not mean you should be on here stirring up trouble or pointing fingers.

What I mean is what you say 'with your friends' is one thing but this is a public place and I am Martha's cousin and I know for fact now that her nieces have seen what has been written. I don't know about her sister or sons have but what I DO know that they have lost a VERY IMPORTANT person to them and I ask you please to show a little respect for what they are going thru right now.

Martha did not deserve any of this. She was a kind, caring warm woman with a big heart and a big smile. She never forgot anyone in the family and was there for me when I lost my mother as well.

Please, please, please if you are going to write about her at all and the situation, remember her for the wonderful person she was and stop trying to "figure it out" or accuse people of things because you truly are causing more pain where there is already enough of that to begin with.
