I dont know why the grandson isnt some how being held responsible. It doesnt matter that he got hurt too, if he didnt have heroin in his grandmothers home this would have never happened. Where is the drug possession charge here?

Just read that Chunga pleaded to 35-Life in Prison. He is 21 now and may be eligible for parole at age 56. What a shame. What a waste.
This sh** is real - This is what drugs can do to people's lives.
Now the fates of the players in this tragic story are sealed. One sweet old lady is dead. Her drug-dealing grandson is permanently maimed and saddled with the weight of living through the violent experience. And his childhood friend is now put away for murder/attempted murder. With one life lost and at least two others ruined, the only positive that can come of this whole situation is to remember this story; tell it to your kids as an example of what can happen with drugs...

"He had gone through a week's bender and he was in the grips of horrible withdrawal symptoms," said Chunga's attorney, Jason Bassett, of Central Islip. "He expressed to me many times if he could go back in time to reverse this, he absolutely would."

Oh then by all means let's send Chunga to a 28 day program and a spot on Dr. Phil's Show attorney Bassett!

Rest in Peace Mrs. Watson

The dealer was Watson cause he brought drugs to his house without regard for his sweet grandma. To me, Watson was the one who provoked the crime and yet he's free to go. Something wrong in our judicial system! May Martha rest in peace because only half justice has been done here !!

Getting out of a life sentence requires a guilty plead so that you can get a reduced sentence and appeal later. This doesn't necessarily mean that you are guilty as charged though. Think about it, can a 21 yr old, 5'2" kill, weighing 105 lbs kill one person so violently with another one (the grandson)just watching? Something is off in the story and an appeal will tell later on. Hang in there !

chunga killed his grandma before watson even knew this was happening and then chunga ran downstairs and attacked watson with a knife running at him full force out of no where. We who knew all the victims know chunga did this everyone was in pure shock its like a horror movie except its real chunga admited it and watson told me the story so everyone who thinks an appeal or the guilty plea is bullshit have no idea what they are saying trust me hes guilty i know plenty of people who go through heroin withdrawal and at the most stole money from smoneone but never killed anyone this brutally or at all. I think chunga snapped maybe theres something more to it than drugs, but then again im not a doctor but the sad part is chunga said he would reverse that day so many times i nkew chunga welll and know he would if he could so sad how many lives ruined let this be a lesson to everyone who thinks about putting a needle int heir arm again Heroin is not the same as weed or any other drug, like crack heroin takes your soul along with your mind remeber that RIP martha watson

You believe the story of someone you know was selling heroin to all kids in the area? I don't know who's guilty or not but I do know that the guy was using drugs because Watson was selling them to him and had been for many years when his parents thought that he went to Watson's house to do homework, he was just getting drugs from Watson. And Watson is running free...something wrong with the system.

Concerned, you are absolutely correct. None of this would ever have happened if there wasn't a history of drugs in that house. Now the dealer gets to go free. But if he has even a sliver of a conscious, he will suffer every remaining day of his life under the weight of guilt, knowing that he ultimately brought the events of 12/01/07 upon himslef and his grandmother. I hope he dwells on this and refrains from setting up shop in another state as if this had never happened.

mostly everyone does/sells heroin in smithtown so if he wanted it that badly he could have picked up his phone and made one phone call. he didnt have to kill anyone.thats all it takes to get heroin around here ONE PHONE CALL thats it.

Drugs kill. This is a spectacular example of the horrors of drugs.

I agree with all comments here. It's just a shame that these types of things must escalate to such horrific results before lessons may be learned. This is the kind of story that D.A.R.E. should be using in their education programs.

I was actually looking for another friend of mine who had been arrested in smithtown, when I stumbled upon this story about chunga. I was completely in shock, I havent seen him in years but it really makes you wonder what smithtown is coming to. The drug problem there is terrible, and anyone who says otherwise really doesnt know what they are talking about. I have at least two friends from high school who are now in rehab. It seems like if you dont get out of there after high school...it begins to all go down hill.

The Bottom line here is that Chunga is completely liable for his actions and committed full blown murder to a wonderful sweet old lady who everyone loved. She was helpless, home from surgery.

There was not one holiday that we did not receive a card from her. Whether it was Christmas or St. Pa tricks day! She was the happiest , caring person I ever met, and for that I miss her dearly.

Watson, was in the basement and didn't see this coming. If he was never selling these drugs he would still have his eye and my aunt would still be alive. Either way I hope everyone learns something from this story as everyone lost here.

I really hope Chunga never gets out of jail for this and is given the death penalty. Someone who can stab someone 24 times in the FACE has no place in this world!!
