The only good pit bull is one trained to attack PETA members who hand out circus protest books to kids comming out of school.

pit bulls, rottweilers, german shepards, etc should be banned from any RESIDENTAL neighborhood.

these animals are good for guard/security reasons and should be used for that purpose and NOT as the family pet.

kudos to the cop that killed it, he probably saved someone from being attacked in the future.

I think if you just shot at the ground. that would have sufficed... killing an animal. lunging or not... still does not need to be killed.
That would be a good idea if it was the ground that was about to tear your head off.

I think from what I saw on News 12 that they may be wrong for shooting the dog..and as for the cocker spaniel owner..he is ignorant..he said "that kind of dog" shouldnt be on his block..it has nothing to do with pitbulls. I have a pitbull and he wouldnt hurt a fly..that guy sucks..i wish i knew him so i could tell him. Plus I heard that they were on the pitbulls property..thats all i would expect from a dog..protect his/her owners.

What about the bullet fragments ricocheting and hitting someone? If an unleashed dog is snarling at you, you shoot it, not the ground.

listen here little girl channel 12 did not show the whole story i am the owner of the cocker spannel and the real story is the dog came on my front lawn and up to my stoop the attack went on for over 10 minutes with me stricking the pitbull with a police batton durning the the dog turned and attacked me and got me in the leg and brought me to the ground i was able to fight the dog off of me and pick up my dog and put it in my sisters truck and that time i need to follow the dog for the fact that we need to know who the owner is for the bills to pay for the damages i was standing in the street and the offduty police officer pulled up and the dog charged us so befor you get all hot over the subject get the facts straight

The dog should have been secured if you check there is a new york state leash law that needs to be followed . THe owner of the pitbull should be fined she is lucky that the dog didnt serverly hurt the neighbor ..becaues then she would have to face jail time.. she came out with the best possible outcome ...sad but true ....Any pet owner should be responisble enough to no the where abouts of there pet...Deffinitaly shouldnt have been galavanting off there property...

I feel bad for the pitbull the owner is the one that should have been shot .... who would let a dog like that loose in a neighborhood full of children they are lucky it was an adult and not a child

HOW DARE PEOPLE POINT FINGER AT THE HELPFULL POLICE OFFICER .. PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT TO JUMP DOWN AN OFFICERS THROAT FOR ANY REASON. HE JUST RESPONDED TO THE VIOLENT SCREAMS LIKE HE WAS TRAINED TO DO.. ON DUTY OR NOT HE SAVED THE NEIGHBORHOOD FROM MANY POSSIBLE INJURIES

I live next door and no for a fact that there was only one shot fired and that was at the dog ... this woman wants to press charges for damages that "could be a bullet hole in her house" she had these damages previously. She is just being spitefull b.c she was irrisponisble enough to leave her pet out to attack the innocent people next door

the pit bull was on his property maybe if you didnt have selective hearing you would have gotten the fact that the pitbull was loose and on his the property a few houses down...get your facts right before you make comments all over the internet.Of course you take it persnonally when he said that kind of dog not meaning pitbull you imbacil meaning A VIOLENT ANIMAL not that specific breed. A little sensitive are we what did your dog attack a child ?

As a pitbull owner I think it is the dog owners fault. If you own a dog you have to be responsible. I can't stand people that let their dogs and cats roam free. Unfortunately this person didn't show suffient responsiblity to the dog to keep it secured and socialized properly to get along with other dogs and people. As for bans of pitbulls lets first get rid of the criminals and gangs we have in society.

Yes. I was there. Leash laws. Yes. The owner of the pitbull is 100% at fault. Don't have a dog if you don't can't control it. If they had taken proper responsibility for their dog and restrained it as it should have been. As a dog owner myself, you are responsible for protecting your dog, even from themselves.

That dog came after me. My sweet little Trouble got between us. Defending his mother.

That dog was out for blood. Of that I am absolutely certain. I watched it take my dog instead of me, I watched it turn on my brother, I watched it turn on a neighbor trying to help.

Trouble is my hero.

My brother is my hero.

That cop is my hero. That cop is the hero of that neighborhood.
