It was my parents 1st purchased home...they loved it, and still speak of it from time to time. Moved because my dad got tired of the LIE, even back then. Always wondered what it would be like to grow up there...lived on Dekalb Ave, which I think is considered North Brentwood? Was a great block...still can recall a few things about some neighbors and such, even though I was 6 when we moved away. Drove past the old house just last week, because my son had a soccer game in the area...still looks the same...even the same shingles and colors...the awning my dad put up in the backyard is still there...sad to hear that the town did not grow old, gracefully. hey joe do u rember me im louie my parents bought ur old house it was a great block to grow up on
Hey Louie!! I do remember you...sorry I hadn't seen this response until now. How long did you live in the old house?? I drove by a couple of years ago, because I was in the area. Actually parked in front of the house for a while, and couldn't believe how many memories I still had, given how young I was...we loved that house...hope all is well with you...my parents are still alive and well, living in NJ now...

One dear friend, whom I lost contact with was Maria Asch, lived on Mayflower Aveune, off Freeman, is gone. I just wish I could find out what happened.
I am still in shock.
I went to elementary school and junior high with Maria. She was a funny and sweet girl. I was shocked to see see passed away. I always pictured her as growing up to be a great wife & mom. God bless

The old White's gas station (Texaco) at the corner of Washington Ave. and Suffolk Ave. was torn down last week. RUMOR has it, they are building a new 7-11 with Gas Pumps.

St. Anne's grad '63. I lived on Grant Ave. near where Suffolk Ave. meets Fifth Ave. Brentwood was such a cozy town back then. I remember all the beautiful pine trees that lined Suffolk Ave. How about Doc's drug store, A&P(I think), Long Island Stores (5 & 10cent store). I also can recall a luncheonette across from the train station, Brentwood Taxi, Fire Station, the park with the Bandstand, Memorial Day Parades.......man, the more I write, the more memories come back. Such an innocent time it was. St.. Anne's.....my father went there, my other and sister as well....any way I love this site and will drop in from time to time. Until then, Later!.....Bruce Schultz

No more pine trees along Suffolk Avenue, they are all gone as is Doc's Drug Store, A & P, Long Island Stores and the luncheonette. And you wouldn't want to walk into Memorial Park for fear of your life. Sadly, Brentwood is dead.
