Use your own judgement according to your particular situation. Don't be influenced, positively nor negatively, with remarks via the internet. Each circumstance is DIFFERENT.

Thank you I am new to town and found the classroom teacher very helpful, but have concerns about the number of students in my child's class that seem to be very disruptive and I was told by some parents at church that at central they choose certain students to be in the good class and I need to make sure my child is in the good group. This bothered me. I really like the teacher, but my child tells how they are in trouble all the time. I wanted to talk with the principal, because I could not imagine that they pick and choose to have good classes and bad, but I was told that a friend of this lady was actually called by the principal to see if she wanted her child in this good group. I do not want my child moved, but do not want their education hindered because of the classroom makeup. Thanks again. I will talk to the couple of ladies I spoke to at church to get my facts straight and then make an appointment. Great advice. I have noticed this site has a lot more gossip then helpful information

Sorry to be the one to inform you that the information you have been given by your peers is incorrect. First of all, being new to the community we would hope you had taken the time to meet those involved with your child's education upon enrollment. Further more, the classroom selection is not a matter of 'good' or 'bad' students. A student will not be among the same students of its entire classroom more than once. Which means, the selection is varied. Please take note that all classrooms, of any given elementary grade, follow the same curriculum. There is not a classroom that is ahead of the others, nor is there a classroom that is behind the others. Again, please use your personal experience with your particular situation to make your own impression of the faculty of Central school.

Actually our realtor kept mentioning the assets of another school district, but we looked into the district and after reading the many opportunities kewanee had to offer especially in the higher grades,we thought it had more to offer than the other districts. PTO seems to have good advice, but I note a defensive attitude. This makes me wonder if PTO is an employee or relative. I actually trust that my information has some validity and I was not questioning the classroom teacher or her efforts, but the possible imbalance in the classrooms. Again defensive makes me nervous. For the ones speaking about bullying...where did that come from? Do you have a problem with bullying? I hope your reading and deductive skills were not indicative of your education in kewanee.

After consideration and looking at the topics that occupy most of of this website, I feel this site is an unreliable means of gaining helpful information. I will find other avenues to obtain local information. Sorry I did not exam this more indepth

Are they wanting to move your child because of him/her behaving better than others? Or maybe because they want to put him/her into a class because of merit? Meaning a class of students that can challenge your child to become better. My kids went to Wethersfield, and back then, in 3rd grade they split the classes into thirds. 1/3 went to both 3rd grade teachers, and 1/3 went to a semi retired teacher. The kids who went to the latter teacher were the gifted students. The others got the standard education, until they were noticed for doing well. I remember my daughter telling me of several new students to her math class. Thoughts anyone?

Because one does not comment in the direction your peers have led you to believe, should not be mistaken as defensive. Nor should it be implied that it is submitted by an employee or relative (to whom we do not know who you speak of). I cannot stress enough to take your questions to the principal of Central School directly and do not be influenced by others who may have had an unpleasant experience, in their opinion, due to their specific circumstances. Communication between parents and the schools is key for ensuring your child(ren) receive a great education. Please, do not hesitate to speak with the faculty necessary to answer your questions.

Please, the time spent considering the use of this website, could be used to meet with school officials to help with your dilemma. Or the need to search for other avenues to obtain local information regarding your child's education. It is easily found at 215 E. Central Boulevard.

My child attends Central School and is very well behaved in the classroom. Teachers have never had any complaints about behavior, in fact are always sending praise. Every year my child is with a different group of children, a mix of different behaviors. Whomever told you that they hand pick children for a "good class" is completely wrong. They apparently have a child in the school and believe that they are the best student, therefore believe whatever class they are in is the "good class". I am not naive, I know my child is not perfect. Like any other child there are certain behavior issues. Just not in class when you are supposed to be learning.

I know for a fact, especially the 4th grade, that some classes are heavy on behavior issues. And they were created that way by the principal. Look whose class Mr. Anderson and Mr. Bryans sons are in. Not one behavior issue in that classroom. All the teachers are good but they do overload some with the behaviors.
If it is smaller class size, then ask to be transported to Neponset. Same salary, much much smaller class sizes there!

I hated that school. Hated the teachers. I would come home crying everyday from the students picking on me fallowing me home. And complete harassment.I told the school what was going on, not once did they talk to the students who were involved. Not one student was punished. I moved away and it was the best thing my parents decided to do for me.

my kids have had minor bullying incidents and i went straight to mr hinton and things were taken care of immediately and also at the highschool this year, and i know in all 3 of my childrens classes their has been mixed varieties of children not just smart and dumb and in between, so i think your church may be a cult and misleading you , everyone has different experiences and opinions on the schools and school experiences, i think it is dumb as can be for kewanee to have wethersfield school in the same town , its still kewanee people !
