It was my understanding (city limits) that our electric bill would be a little less expensive.(never cheap just less expensive) The city co-op'ed
the electricity in order to save the consumer (us) money on our bill. In my case I was penalized 25$ by ameren for switching supplliers AND my delivery rate went up nullifying any savings I may have realized. My question is this. Did anyone save any money from the cities agreement the new supplier?

I switched to a different one before the city did that, got charged outrageously for delivery charge, called ameren to discuss what was going on, they told me, the only months you will save money is in summer when the rates change. Amerens rate is currently lower than the others. My opinion switch back to ameren and stay there. You already know how they operate, all your charges, and what to expect..

Are you all electric? If so you should not have switched.Ameren already has a cheaper rate for custermers that are all electric.

wrong on that! I have all electric and when ameren took over from illinois power they dropped that rate.

So I was told by ameren and haven't been able to get it back!

I am all electric... I get the winter rate discount. The rates were eventually reinstated by ameren. I called and verified this info.

News flash!.........You got in on the rate reduction plan offered a few yrs back. Which is gone now and your rate is higher now than it was then. Lower than regular rate but higher than before.
As I said they don't offer it any more. When you called, they said yes you still get that rate but it's not as low as you think.
Your grandfather in on it but if you change anything on your power bill. You will lose that little bit of reduction your getting now.
In 2007 when power bills tripled, ameren had to do something to settle the masses. So they did the rate reduction your on for electric users for a short time. When that expired, they dropped it. They didn't want your rate to take a big jump so they increased it by a middle percent "not sure what the percentage was off hand". That way they got their money and you had a little bit smaller bill than average.

This is fact!!!!!!!
If you can prove other wise.
Give me a contact person at ameren, with name and number extension.
I will call and get it.
I also have sources that work at the office and they tell me that rate was a short lived and no longer exists. But if you can prove it. Give me the name and number I want to get on it also! I use over 5000 kw a month...some time 6000.

Go to powersmartpricing.com and sign up there. You will only be billed for what you use at an hourly rate, not the winter rate average. It is a watchdoG group that will make sure you only get charged for what you use and Ameren will not make a profit off of you... This cut my electric bill by 37% each month on average And last year I saved $579. Oh, BtW, my house isn't all electric, So, I'm Sure You'd Save a whole lot more!
