Yes, they think they are the only ones.
I heard the noise the 2 night. Called the sheriff. We can't do anything was their reply.
So who do we go to?

Grand parents were here long before them. And I know it's a factory! but most places try to calm it down at night and thats when I hear that pump or what ever it is. Going off.
P.S. I don't live next to martins. Im about 3 or 4 blocks away. and can still hear that pump, across the tracks.

Official it's 1st street. They just got a honorary name for mailing address. Just like lots of streets are called Martin luther king drive---street. The same with mister Patch that passed away. The gave him an honorary street in Kewanee. Which I think was very nice.

You must be one of the many undereducated, overachieving, wanabees that work there. Why else would you stick up for their nonsense? NEVER in the past has that place been this loud after 3:30pm. How do I know? I've lived in this town for over 30 years. And when I say IN this town, I mean within blocks from Martins. I don't know what they're trying to prove by running all their machines wide open, and testing their blasters every 20 seconds, long after 10pm. If this is the way it sounds now, with their doors shut, I hate to have to deal with it when summer comes. I don't know who's in charge on second or third shift over there, but I'll almost bet they don't go to sleep with the sound of thumping...over....and....over ...and...over.

I have noticed that most of the time. This noise is quiet, during the day. Mostly it's off. And like others have stated. After 10 pm. it starts. If they don't need to run it all day, then why does it have to run at night. You would think if it's for testing stuff. It would run all the time. I have no problem, with any and all noise during the day. But after 10 pm I would like to get some sleep. I do have to work. Run it all evening or all day if you have to. But please turn it off after 10 or 11. Back on at 6 in the morning, if need be.

I work for John Deere in Davenport,Iowa They have 274 exhaust openings throught their roof.

It is noisier than any human could imagine inside, when you walk out side, nothing! you hear birds singing, leaves russeling. Why?

No horizontal venting. Every thing is vertical, through the roof.

I know that Martin Enginering Would fit in John Deere's janitors closet, with room to spare, I do think they could do better.

Well it didn't stop for long. The a### holes are back at it again.
I think it's time to get the epa or state involved.

I Wonder why they built the new building, and won't take their crap inside?

They act like their from some third world country.

Yes "nep", the peace and quiet was short lived. Here I thanked them for what I thought was a little respect for their fellow man. Flush that down the toilet. I heard the cannons going off a few nights ago after ten o' clock again. "Old Timer", I agree with you too. They build a new buiding, and from I've heard, by talking to a few employees, it's just a museum for their business clientele to be impressed by. They aren't planning on getting it too dirty anytime soon. When it comes to third world country comparisons, Martins have operations all over the world. They're probably taking pointers from the way Mexico treats their people.

I am new here. Just learned about this the other day.
I have talked to some people at Martin's.
They told me they were only going to run it during the day. Not after 9 p.m.
If this is true, then we will aleast get to sleep at night.
I don't mind the noise during the day. It's at night that gets to me.
They also say they will try to work on it. To get it quieter. Hope that's true.
I am willing to give them a chance.
Thanks to all.

Stick around new-guy you'll soon be sick of Neponset. With the wonderful noise, and high water bills, and bumps in the roads you will wish you never moved here. Not to mention the jobs that are available, the intown shopping, restaurants,OH THAT'S RIGHT NONE OF THAT EXISTS HERE ANYMORE! But welcome to our nightmare.
