As the old year passes and the new has yet to begin I hope that everyone thinks hard about the lessons that one should learn throughout their life. Always remember, life is valuable,it can be gone in an instant. Remember that you are responsible for the lives you touch in this life for better or for worse. The two students who died in this senseless tragedy were supposed to be able to make valuable contributions to this world through their lives. They were both bright, involved, good young people who had everything to live for. They had already begun to make a positive difference and had accomplished so much in the few short years they had on earth. They are and will always be greatly missed. Their passing will never be understood. Unfortunately, their promising lives were taken in an instant by someone who demonstrated by his actions that in 21 years he had not learned any of the things mentioned above. Finally, remember, that to learn anything while we live we need to own up to your mistakes and take the consequence that follow from them, then we must try, with all we have inside, to make our life a life of accomplishment and a life that makes a difference for the better. Unless the driver who killed and injured these young people can do that he will have wasted one more life in addition to the 7 other lives he affected so negatively the night he decided to drink and drive, disobey posted speed limits and drive on the wrong side of the road. Wishing all a better, more responsible new year.
