Official word on the street is that KIND Radio
now has new owners. Hopefully they will continue
to carry IHS Bulldog sports going forward, and it
would be an added bonus to bring back ICC Pirate
sports as well. And maybe they can put the local
games on the internet again?

I have family that loves to listen to the Bulldog
broadcasts, especially basketball games but they
live way outside the local listenng area.
The Pirate football games were on the
internet this past season so it should be possible.

Supposedly the new owners are the same station that
broadcasted ICC football this past season, so you would
think that they would continue to do it and also add
Pirate basketball too?

All wishful thinking as a sports fan. But why not have
the Carpenter guys do all their sports games?
They are damn good regardless of which sport they're doing.

If I were the new owners I would want my "A Team" to be their voice. Hell why not do some high school and ICC baseball/softball? I don't think thats ever been done in Indy?

Just my thoughts and hopes but I do believe new ownership
is a step in the right direction. And if you really care
about the station, keep the sports on the air because its
really the main reason people listen anyway.

There are so many dfferent choices to listen to music now
with internet and so forth but if you want to hear about local
stuff then you can provide us listeners with something we
have needed for a long, long time.

For thoe of you who listen to local sports and care about it,
let your feelings be known. Its the only way the new owners know
what our town wants.

I heard that same thing. Any new ownership
would be a good thing. And I totally agree
that keeping their local sports on the air
should be one of their top priorities!

I've said this before, Indy 102.9 has a great
pair of announcers doing their sports coverage
but the station could be taking bigger
advantage of these guys abilities. Honestly,
the Carpenters are hands down the best at
what they do that I've ever heard in this
entire area.

I also agree with the person from another
thread stating that Jeff Carpenter should
be taking his talents on to much bigger and
better radio opportunities. He could make a
name for himself in any of the bigger markets.
But I'm really glad we have him and his son
Cain to listen to locally.

To the new owners, hold on to what you've got
and give us what we want...continued local
sports coverage!

Sounds like rumors running amuck in Indy.
Heres another one for you to mull over.
Ive heard the sports guys are going to be
moved to a different market. One of the other
towns that the new station owners have. Not
sure but some of the other on air people may
be doing different stuff in those towns too.
Like I said this is second hand info I can only
guess this would be a step up for them

The only hope for bringing good radio programing back to Independence is to turn it back over to Hoite and Patti.

Yes they did a good job of promoting
the local stuff. I dont know if that would ever happen or even if theyre interested. But I
like the idea of anyone pushing for local
radio

A lot of things have changed in the world of radio. A lot of people have gone to the web for music. If I was running a radio station, I would play great classic rock, limit the commercials, if I was a DJ, I would talk as little as possible, just play great music. When I turn on the radio, I don't want to hear the daily blues or sports, If I want to know about the weather, I'll stick my head out the window. There are other places for that. I think the internet has taken away a lot of listeners from FM radio. I just wish FM radio would accept that and try a little harder.

I must agree that the Carpenters do a great job on the broadcasts. I had to miss two ballgames this year do to work issues and listened to them call the game. It was like I was there. Hopefully they will be allowed to call the games for quite some time. I enjoy their talents.

Keep 102.9 a local format. Drop the country music since there are
a bajillion of those stations everywhere around us.
I moved here from a larger town in Illinois where we didn't have near
the local coverage of high school sports that Independence has
presently. I only know our local kids from hearing their names while
listening to the Bulldog games, but I still feel like I know them
personally. That's mainly due to the fact of how the sports announcers
make you feel completely involved in the game every night.
Keep the sports and your station will prosper going forward. As far
as what music you play that's a crap shoot...just realize that country
is everywhere around us, so try something new. Maybe talk radio for
102.9?

yes there is a new owner, but they have brought back the same general manager as before; JOHN. He ran it into the ground before and was fired. So the new owner brought him back. The first thing he did was cancel the talk format on 1010. Next he is getting rid of the MY FM 94.9 station. YA know, for the first time in INDY history, we have a DJ who is rated (the system of rating major cities don't come into this small of markets) but we have a guy, Spankie, who brought ratings to INDY, and the new owners and JOHN are forcing him to return to the former format (that did not work) or leave. Why can't Indy ever progress? Why do we have to stay in the past? and if we start to advance, we change it back to the non-working ways of the past.

Thats interesting to hear but how do you know all of this?
Do you work for the station or what? Just seems like
someone who is a disgruntled employee or something.
I personally dont know anything about the inside
operations, but you seem to. Just wondering thats all.
I guess time will tell as to how the future of KIND Radio
wil be doing in the future. Hopefully they do well cause
Indy deserves a good station.

Dropping sports would be a huge mistake
but the new owners will do whatever they want to do. Just hate to see that happen if it does
