on the grand stands cheering on the investigation to accountability. start from the top to the bottom. clean house, get the laws into play. tired of seeing shiprock offices (all) do as they please like they own companies, forgetting they are employed by a company. there is a protocal in the city to follow to accountability, enough of watching mean, greedy, territorial people on the shiprock side of the navajo nation. i found helpful, courteous, procedural people in window rock about a month ago in a couple of offices, census and agricultural. a shame to go elsewhere to get a pleasant and no harm services that i needed in shiprock. I say dont stop there, there is alot more you can investigate, i believe religion was named. there is one in particular that needs to be investigated for accountability (financially, meth operation, licensure, etc). there are many geniune churches that are for real but there is one that needs to be looked into. very pleased that you open up issues on the reservation, need more items to be brought out. As a taxpayer, we were denied homesite leases, home, college funds, it's not what you know, the rez is about who you know. those are the only groupies that tend to manipulate laws and hurt our old elders, and those of us that follow. in the old days, we managed not get through a fair with so called adminstration like today. there was respect and honor for your neighbor from all parts of the reservations (dine) and visitors that respected our nation in those days. today is a disgrace, disrespect, dishonor to our ancestors. you put us to shame shiprock fair board!

Unfortunately, the US Federal Govt isnt interested in 'policing' such activities on account of.....'Navajo Tribal Sovereignty'! It is way past time to send Indian Politicians to prison particuarly those who are corrupted and function in disgust. But some US politician isnt going to make his money if his counterpart to Navajo politics is let to... HAY,how about that SOVEREIGNTY.How is it working for you? The govt. needs to take over the land and all of you can be part of the USA too.Pay taxes to DC.and SJC and NM. See how the BIG boys do it. Thank you FDT for a good job of reporting.

Let's just hope someone thought to freeze all assets of the fair board before starting this investigation. As for waiting until the 100th anniversary, why not start now and when that gets here "VOILA" the grounds are ready and hope fully the fair is a success. Finally from my pint of view the south end of the fairgrounds is what the fair began as and should be to this day, the Ceremonies and the Indian markets, and yes even the occasional inebriated individual, alcohol has been around even that long as well. Rodeos , carnivals and deep fried foods on a stick were not the original intent of the fair in it's origin and add to it the greedy fair board. what's your point!!! Get your words in the right place

THANK Y0U DAILY TIMES. BUT REALLY I DON'T THINK ANYTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT IT. THERE'S ALOT OF TALK AND SHOW NO ACTION. IN MEANING I HEARD THE CHAPTER WANTS TO TAKE OVER THE FAIR. BUT, REALLY HOW CAN THEY HANDLE AN EVENT LIKE THIS. THEY ARE ALWAYS ON TRAVEL, NOT IN THE OFFICE OR TRAVELING TO WINDOW ROCK. THEY CAN'T EVEN POWER UP THERE SIGN WHICH HAS BEEN SITTING THERE FOR OVER A YEAR. TO THE FAIR BOARDS "PLEASE TELL US WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING," I HAVE HEARD ON SEVERAL EVENTS (BABY PAGENT, MNN PAGENT, ELDER FEST, ETC.) DURING THE FAIR THAT THEY WERE SHORT ON MONEY OR LOW ON BUDGET FOR THAT REASON THEY ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR FREE BEES. PLEASE ORGANIZE SOME NEW EVENTS, IN THE PAST 3 YEARS I'VE SEEN THE CHILI COOK-OFF, THE BIG WHITE TENT WHICH I LIKE. FOR ONCE GET A GRAND MARSHALL THAT HELPED OUR COMMUNITY. FOR EXAMPLE: THE BIKERS THEY HELP WITH FUNDRASING, ESCOURT OUR LOCAL HERO'S AND ETC.

Oh man... you are really opening a can of worms adn ya know what? it is about time. Can Shiprock start its own newspaper that can just devote itself to keeping them honest? I would buy a Shiprock Daily Times if someone---like a recent college grad needing a job-- would start a paper devoted to letting us busy folk know what our CDs and Chapter officials are doing with our resources! There is a lot of news!!!!!!!

Its true that all fair boards and parks and rec hide their financial records and the jokers in tribal or state government help the greedy ones. There is no reason why financial records should be secretive. That white tax lady Amy Alderman should be fired along with auditor general lady because they don't do their jobs!! Even the WR fair run by parks and rec always has fraud, theft, freebies to CDs like Geo Arthur but they hide things. Now fair board along with their legal advocate in SR just hide things to keep their greed to themselves. We need to audit all fair boards plus housing providers like partnership for housing and Southwest Indian foundation which was the subject of an Albuquerque Journal investigation for their secrecy and board members getting plenty of beso off by posing as a nonprofit helping poor navajos. It seems like thats the new way to get rich - by claiming to help poor navajos or ripping off navajos at fairs! San Juan county and city of Farmington ain't no different, and Glojean Todacheenie knows it, after all she helps many of her white friends in both Navajo and SJ County keep things secret! She likes to play games as if she were also taken advantage but don't believe her.

Good job to Alisa Landry and the Daily Times. As for the Fair Board, it figures. This type of embezzlement is happening all over the Navajo Nation. We do not have responsible, accountable, certified, or even educated people in these positions. Greed, nepotism, and laziness control the Navajo Nation leaders. This type of abuse is in higher offices, schools, and chapters. People need to start opening their eyes to things around them. Investigate and ask questions. We cannot be sovereign unless we start to learn how to fix our own problems. It is no wonder natives are even thought of in mainstream society. We could all be extinguished and it would not even make a difference in the world. We have made no major impact, and we are still living as such.

This just isn't an outcome for the Navajo Nation to know...this is important for all of us!! Disgrace to these board members...absolutely disgusting. I hope they find all of you guilty of fraud and you ALL get years in prison for what you have done to your people for all these years. You are what give the Navajo people a bad name!!!! The Shiprock Board pockets it all! Every year they lose thousands! Why? Because you and I could walk right into their trailer and steal it right under there nose. LOL. Yup relatives, frens, strangers with sticky fingers go in there and walk out with the money. So that's basically what the board does as well. Get rid of them, let the Navajo Nation take it over entirely. Appoint new chair person, and most importantly create an Accounting system. Not reporting anything to the IRS, Federal, or State you are asking for trouble. Why doesn't the Navajo Nation TAX office investigate them. Oh wait, probably because someone there is related to someone clan wise. Those prices are ridiculously HIGH. Investigate this corrupt organization! They are Greedy!!! Keep the fire on them Daily times, and the state of NM needs to investigate them all!!!
