What's the big deal. We have had high speed INTERNET for years from Quest, Diret TV, Dish and other internet providers.
Check the Better Business Bureau for Complaints - Comcast has had hundreds - poor service, overcharges, biting your head off for saying anything, etc - seem to never get it right - they want it that way.

The very worst basic cable packages around. I'm getting DirecTV for not much more cost than ComCast basic cable. In fact, thinking through my friends and family, one by one they're going from Comcast to DirecTV.

Comcast is about eight years behind the curve in providing these services to Farmington. HDTV and cable internet have been mainstays in other parts of the country for years, yet Comcast decided Farmington wasn't a good market for these services.

Well, no thanks Comcast. I'll stick with my DirecTV and my local high speed internet provider. At least they thought enough of our community to provide us with these services years ago.

The article doesn't tell you that cable service, in Farmington, has been out for a month while they do upgrades. Comcast neglected to tell their customers, of this loss of service. Thanks Comcast!!!

Comcast was threatening to cut off my 91 year old fathers TV at the nursing home. Checked into it and found that they had credited his account and then charged his account then again charged his account because of what they said was a problem with the check I had written. Checked with the bank and found out Comcast had never submitted the subject check for payment. So I asked Comcast for the check. Comcast Farmington said the check was in Denver and that they could not give me the check back but would cancel the extra charge for the subject check, but since they had never submitted the check for payment that they could not credit his account for the amount of the check that allegedly their Denver office had and that they would still cut of my dad's TV in the nursing home if I would not write Comcast another check - so I wrote them another check, went down to the bank and canceled payment on the subject check that Camcast had in their Denver office for which the bank charged me $27.
So for a $17 bill from Comcast, I had to write them two -$17 checks, cancel one which cost $27, and spend half a day straightening out their mess or they would have cut off my father's TV in the nursing home.

hopefully comcast 8mb down is really 8 mbs.. or close to it... Even 8mb is SLOW compared to the rest of the country..

Actually the United State's average download speed is 7.02Mbs, average upload is 1.6Mbs. We're caught up with the rest of the country according to those numbers.
Comcast also gave me the option to get 16Mbs internet, which I ordered.:)
These upgrades are good for the community, however, you can look at it any way you'd like.

Here is the problem with the Quest Bundle package, you have to pay for a basic phone line to get the internet service. Most people have cell phones so why pay $30/month (with taxes) for a home line so that you can pay another $30 for basic internet. Then add $60 to $80 for D-TV.$140 total for me.
Been paying this for years, but I'm dropping it for Comcast now that the upgrades are done. I'll get higher speed internet and 200 channel cable for $80 for the first 2 years and then the rate goes up $25 for the 3rd year.
I just hope it's reliable service.

Hi, my name is Saint and I am a victim of "Quest abuse." (HI SAINT!)

Yep, I can hardly wait to dump Quest on their proverbial ear and pick up cable and internet from Comcast. I just hope they don't "upgrade" their fees out of my reach.
