Bring them all along. I will wear a KU sweatshirt. That should definitely make me stand out from the others. Bring Cash along is he is willing to buy. Dot and Hooper sound very interesting bring them along too. We will fill the place with new faces.

I really enjoy Antoine G......he gets to go to all the fun places. His trip to Asia sounds wonderful. Wonder where he will go next. Apparently he is very hardworking (must not work for the government)....tee hee. Debbie, are you packing for your trip north? Since I will be in both North and South Dakota the week before, I'm sure I will need to find a good place to relax and have fun. Have you made reservations yet and how long will you be in the area? I don't have to prepare for my interview with Gov. Sebelius's(of Kansas)press secretary until Friday, so I have some time to explore Antelope County....
Still waiting for those Irish recipes, Antoine. Oh, you said in your email that you and your lovely wife have an anniversary soon.....are you doing something special????

Forgot to tell you, Debbie, but Heidi and Cash won't be coming with me, so I'll be solo.....

I personally will never eat at the Steel Steed again. I have eaten there 3 times now and the frist time the service was horrable. The steaks were ok but the steaks at the Blue Rose Cafe are infintly better. The second time the service was even worse it took almost an hour and a half to get our food my steak was medium well not medium rare my daughters chicken was undercooked and my wifes steak was cold. The third time the service was the same the food once again not very good and I watched as a man I saw pay for his meal be called a lier and forced to pay again!!!! This is a joke of a restaurant it is a waste of a nice building. If you want a good meal in Antalope county try L Bar B in clearwater the Fountain in Neilgh or the best choice the Blue Rose Cafe in elgin. The BRC has great breakfast lunch and suppers. Steaks that are not only really tasty and tender but also won't emtpy your wallet. All three times I ate at the steel stead I spent over 68 bucks for three of us!!!!! AND IT SUCKED!!!!!

I'm back from my trip to Nebraska and what a trip it was. Met lots of interesting people and drank lots of coffee with the local folks. Had a yummy steak dinner at the steak house downtown in Elgin (don't remember the name.....but the ribeye was yummy. For a change of pace from the ususal restaurants, also ate at the Granary in Norfolk....the prices were fantastic and the Reuben sandwiches are so good. The coffee at Daddy's in Neligh is great....Had a really great trip. Thanks, Debbie, for meeting up with me and finally getting to know you in person. Sorry none of the rest of you showed up, it would have been more fun!

I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Young's experiences at the Steel Steed.I have frequented the place often, as much as 2-3 times a week and I have always gotten a good meal and friendly service. At times they do get very busy....and it does take awhile...but the food is good. The L Bar B always has good food and you are waited on right away. The only thing that bothers me there is the little waitress(older lady) that coughs or clears her throat all the time. I think that she is a smoker...so it sounds. It is just not appealing over your food. I don't eat much at the Blue Rose...so I couldn't comment on that. I have heard that their food is good.

Is the Blue Rose the name of the "steak house" in Elgin that used to be a bowling alley?

No, the Steel Steed is the former bowling alley. The Blue Rose is the former Kate's Kitchen.

The Steel Steed was very good when Debbie and I met there. They give you a huge glass of great wine and the ribeyes were so very good.
