Plans to trim runway at UP airport by 3,000 feet
Plans call for the runway at the Upper Peninsula's Sawyer International Airport to be shortened by more than 3,000 feet after a federal funding cut.

The Sawyer airport is going to be shut down anyway due to costs. The airport is going to return to the former location just west of Marquette. The Sawyer housing side is also being considered for sale and demolition for reforestation.
