I am getting worried about the Neelyville School District!

As some of you have said they have gone way TO FAR ON THE SWATS!

The got rid of the form that other parents signed that says if your child can have
swats or not!

They're breaking paddles an desks.

The Neelyville School District has GONE WAY TO FAR

Hmmmm. Funny how you do not know the whole story about the paddle breaking on the desk.I would think that a full grown adult would call the school and ask what happened.I suppose the truth just isn't as much fun to gossip about on a forum like this.Get a life.

There's a reliable witness to Spencer's tantrum when the paddle was broken. Now they are publicly whipping children in the parking lot at Hillview Elementary. It seems a fight on a bus resulted a child that didn't start the fight was defended by 3 siblings. The oldest child in in 5th grade. Ponder was there but couldn't do her job. Dobbins was called from the high school and he gave the children 4 swats in the parking lot. The bad thing is that he paddled the child that got hit and his 3 siblings. The mother was heard telling Dobbins not to paddle her children. He stepped around her and did it anyway. the child taht started the fight didn't receive any. Under Missouri law Dobbins has no juristiction to paddle elementary children. The law also states that only 3 swats may be given at a time. Sources also tell me that children are paddled for playing tag at recess. This is Neelyville schools providing a safe secure place to learn. Done by public humiliation, shame and sick twisted practices.

Perhaps parents should take more responsibility for their children's behavior. The school is trying to help students learn respect and proper behavior.

I doubt that many teachers would recommend medicine because that is not their field. They are expected to mind their elders and to do their work. School is not a playground.

Was it a teacher or the nurse that suggested medicine? Some children do need medication but, it is often overused. Teachers often feel overwhelmed when they have kids in class that don't mind or follow the rules. Children need to obey and follow the school rules.

First, I do admit that I don't know a lot about what happened in the spanking incident(s) that seem to have gotten out of hand. But, I am VERY concerned with this school district. My child has to attend this school. I have made it very clear that my child is NOT to be spanked by anyone at this school. I fully invite them to call me if my child gets into any trouble, which she doesn't. But this school is playing fast and loose with state and federal laws in more areas than just the spanking issue. I am disgusted that they believe they have the right to randomly drug test any student (at least at the junior high and high school levels). As the Supreme Court has ruled this is illegal to do to students who are not members of extra-curricular activities, I'm surprised that anyone has the audacity to defend the behavior of these educators. And, to "a teacher" I sure hope you don't use that language with your students. How ignorant are you?

I hope you're not a teacher at any school that any child I know attends, and I really hope you're not an English teacher. I don't think "You are full of shit" is proper grammar to be teaching children. It makes you sound ignorant. How about submitting your own views without simply cussing at a parent who pays your salary.

To be honest I have always thought this school was rather loose cannon when it came to state rules and regulations and it looks like it has only gotten worse.

Now there is a rather simple solution to this problem. Which Neelyville has attempted to thwart with their "no electronics" policy.

Simply put, when something like this happens simply record a video of it using your cellphone, burn it to dvd, and forward it to the state board of education.

I can almost guarantee that it will get attention and something will be done. The state does not want to end up on the evening news because one of the local schools went rogue under their radar.
