News-talk junkies were even more peeved than usual in January, when Entercom Communication's WXNT-AM 1430 switched formats to sports talk.

That's a perfect medium for Miller. The only people listening to terrestrial radio today are the losers clinging to the past. Radio is well and way beyond its prime and influence. It's a dead medium. Radio is also the perfect venue for those where success has eluded them via television. Miller's had two shows canceled due to bad ratings. Nevermind his silly and short foray as a sports commentator.

I suppose the prime for terrestrial radio would have been back before televisions were a common household item. That being said radio is certainly not a dead medium. Over the past 20 years iTunes has put a few pop music stations out of business, but every time one of those goes under it is replaced by either country or talk radio.

It's silly to suggest that Miller is doing a radio show because success has eluded him on television. Miller became popular because of his work on Saturday Night Live. Miller has been off of SNL for over 20 years, and he still has more name recognition than all of the current cast combined.

Hell, even John Wayne Gacy has more name recognition than the entire cast currently on SNL. And he's been dead for nearly 20 years. Just like Miller's career. Btw,Who even watches SNL these days? The same people that listen to radio? Probably.

Could Dennis Miller sell out Clowes Hall? Doubtful. Could Dennis Miller fill the Vogue? Doubtful. Could Dennis Miller motivate 25 people to show up at Claude & Annie's on a Friday night? Even more doubtful. Not even if C&A offered a prime rib special,1/2 price drinks, free Coors-Lite and karaoke.

No one likes Dennis Miller. This is another last grasp of a dying medium hoping for a few more minutes of life by using another dying form......The conservative talk radio format.
The numbers don't lie. Limbaugh's ratings are getting as low as his sex life outside of the Dominican Republic.

Just look at the advertisers on these shows. Faux Gold Investing,Hair Replacement,Dentures,Specials on Cialis, etc, etc.

Who listens to conservative talk radio? Buffoons and shut-ins. Those clinging to a past that didn't really exist at all. Shut-ins scared of their own shadow. Shut-ins seeking shelter and comfort among others who share their prejudice and fear.

The dainty Anglo-Saxon full of hate and fear.

Dennis Miller wants to be Bill Maher. No one likes Bill Maher. But Maher has pulled off the format with aplomb. And for nearly 20 years. While Dennis Miller has been stuck in the corner of an empty room for the past 20 years beating his own meat with only his tears accompanying him and used for lube.

Even fewer liberals listen to the highly liberal broadcasts on MSNBC and CNN -- even though liberals are mostly unemployed and on food stamps meaning they have plenty of time to pump up MSNBC & CNN ratings.
But no.
Even liberals avoid MSNBC & CNN.
Let's face it: Conservative talk radio is highly informative and entertaining -- and truthful.
We can only take so much of MSNBC & CNN propping-up Obama saying: "You can keep your healthcare plan if you like it. Period."

You criticize Rush Limbaugh for falling ratings and cite Bill Maher as a success at the same time? Considering that Limbaugh literally has ten times as many listeners as Maher has viewers that makes absolutely no sense.

What they really, really need to do is get Greg garrison some medication. He thinks he's Rush Limbaugh.

I understand you don't do nuance. Bill Maher's ratings are not falling. As recent as within the last 4 years Limbaugh once had 15-20 times the amount of listeners than Maher had viewers. Now,it's down to ten and diminishing.

Conservative talk radio is dying. Hell,it's on a dying medium. So are the listeners. That's why talk radio's advertisers consist of hair replacement ads,ads for boner pills, ads for dentures and adverts for faux gold investing. Limbaugh's show is 25 years old. One can only hope to bring back Jim Crow for so long until the message is as old and tired as the medium advocating the message.

I hope this clarifies things.

And.....Bill Maher's show has been successful since 1996. What has Dennis Miller done that has lasted as long? Nothing. 2 shows have been cancelled. Sportscasting was very short lived. The CNBC show had p*ss poor ratings and was summarily canceled. Miller's new radio show will have less listeners than Indy Topix has readers at this very moment.

And even at his peak within the cast of SNL....His tenure with SNL pales in comparison when SNL was at it's prime. Well before he joined the cast.

Radner.
Akroyd.
Belushi.
Chase? No one gives a sh*t.

Miller? No one cares.

Larry Bud Melman and Ed McMahon combined as sidekicks had more cachet than Miller.

I don't have anything against Maher, and I feel no need to question his ratings to make a point. He is a stand up comedian who successfully transitioned into television. Not much different from Miller, a stand up comedian who has done television and radio.

It seems that your personal bias against conservatism leads you to blindly bash anything labeled as such. Reality is that about the only thing that Dennis Miller has in common with Rush Limbaugh is that they are both on the radio.
