In my opinion not only is alcohol prohibited in the park but this is to be a family event to draw interest in the park and money to the area. The kinds of things this beer garden would draw to the area is not what we should want. There was a city law passed that says all businesses that sell alcohol the ownership cannot be tranfered. Which means if the original owner dies the business will die with them. So if Port Neches is trying to get rid of all the businesses that sell alcohol, then why would this agree to allow this beer garden in the Port Neches City Park.

I agree! Alcohol doesn't need to be at these functions. For the ones that can't have some family fun without drinking can just stay home. You'll see you will get a lot that don't think there is anything wrong with selling alcohol at family city functions but I really think it causes more harm than good.

it would be better to have the alcohol in one place at the riverfest(i.e. beer garden) than all over the park. i go every year, and trust me, there is ALWAYS alcohol in the park, not only during riverfest. if it will bring revenue into the city, i say let it happen. a beer garden is not going to draw seedy characters into the park, they are already there(have you ever been to the park on a friday night Concered Christian?) not everyone who enjoys having a beer from time to time is of ill decent. the city needs all the finances they can muster now. have you been down pt neches avenue lately. i'm almost ashamed to say i live there. when you look at cities like nederland and groves, and compare the downtown areas of both of those cities to pt neches, it almost feels like a ghetto of a major metropolitan area. as far as it being a family function, i agree, but beer is served a many resturants around the area, and i dont see any families or concerned christians boycotting these establishments.

(I wouldn't boycott and I see your point. Maybe if they keep it in one area everyone would be satisfied.

Why should you take two Baptists with you when you go fishing?

Because if you take two they won't drink any of your beer. If you take one he'll drink all of it.

The beer garden is not a big deal, it is surrounded by fence and banners, and alot of policemen at the entrance. This is a annual event and everyone should come out and enjoy the event and quit complaining. Some people need to get a real life. There is worse things to fight against than a beer garden at a festival.

I FEEL THAT ALCOHOL WOULD BRING MORE MONEY TO THE FESTIVAL N MAKE IT NOT SUCH A CHILDISH FUNCTION PERSONS IN THERE TWENTIES WOULD NOT SEE A NEED TO GO UNLESS THEY HAD CHILDREN. N WITH THE PROPER AUTHORITIES IN PLACE EVEN A TAMBORINE SHAKING BAPTIST COULD HAVE A GOOOD SAFE TIME
