It was on KFDM Channel 6 in Beaumont and aired into the 60's as my sister and I both were on his show once in the early 60's

To my knowledge, James Arnez never came to Beaumont. Dennis Weaver and Milburn Stone came in 1957 and stood outside KFDM to take the March of Dimes donations. It was very exciting to see them. Also, I was on the Uncle Willy's Show for my birthday. Those were special times!
James Arnes and Dennis Weaver came to Beaumont the same year for the telethon.

I'm Uncle Willie's daughter, Judy, and I said the prayer at the end of the show. It was a prayer I learned in day school at about 2 1/2. Daddy recorded it in our living room. A transcript was made and played on radio and then TV from about '53-'63. Thanks for remembering.
Daddy passed away in 1980 following a stroke.
Judy, can you remember how we "won" the prizes on the show? I "won" two times, and remember a John Deere tractor (toy, of course), other things can't remember but think was products from local businesses including the bread bakery, but have some silver dollars with Eisenhower on them in my safe deposit box. I was just telling someone about this due to a comment about John Deere tractors and was asked "how did one 'win'" for each show? Can't remember. Fondly, Dana Gribben-Tanita of Beaumont as a child.(Family store: Dallas-Williams Furniture Co., downtown):)

I also remember Uncle Willie s club. We lived in Buna and never got to actually go but we watched it faithfully. We even joined his club and got the Redikilowatt pins. Does anyone still have one of those? And yes we were watching the day Leroy was on Cowboy John. We still talk about Leroy.

I remember the recording of the prayer. I was on his show so many times until I moved from Beaumont in 1959. My parents were friends of your dad. I have so many memories. The last time was on my 9th birthday with my Blue Bird group. He gave many memories to children all over.

Hey Sam Havens! I'm Dave Russell's oldest son. I hope you're still writing. When you rattled off all those names of the crew at the 50's KFDM station, It all came rushing back. Didn't you work camera for awhile? I hope you're doing well.

James Arnes DID come for that March of Dimes telethon. He may have been inside when you passed outside. My Dad, Dave Russell, interviewed them both inside the studio To get them all into the camera frame, my Dad's head came up to their chests. He was 5'7". They were both above 6' 4".

I was on the Uncle Willy's Club for a friend's birthday when I was about 7 years old. I remember they chose me to hold my two arms out while another child stacked mounds of Hostess Sno Balls (I hated coconut) along my arms and up to my throat. I was so excited to be chosen because I was going to win a prize which I was to win, if I didn't drop any of them while she was stacking. Well, I didn't drop any and won!! Much to my horror and surprise, my prize was getting to take home all those Sno Balls, and then when we left, they gave us more of them. Joke was on me!!

Still, I loved that show and after all these years later...I remember it as part of my childhood...very special memories!
