While the Stark Fair is a great event, and one I find worth going to, let's be honest: a stay-at-home vacation is no more a "vacation" than near-beer without alcohol is "beer". If one's financial circumstances prohibit going away on vacation, so be it, and just say "we didn't take a vacation" or "we just stayed home". It may be time off work, but it's not a vacation.

Why open the fair the day many Stark County schools start? It seems like a good way to keep admissions down.

Since so many on these boards can be somewhat anal, I figure I might as well mention my own pet peeve. And that's people calling staying at home a vacation...nope, that's "time at home", NOT a vacation.

And judging from your comment, sounds like I would have gotten less flak from you if I posted under a different name. Sheesh

This isn't likely. Attendance at County fairs is down 30% since 2003.
