Doxie, I'm with u on that. I can't understand how the same people who back the Cheshirelightsofhope that memorializes, raises money and had been part of the Christmas decor along the gutters of rte. 10 & roads react with distain to this book that has a different perspective, when for years their candle bags were a constant reminder of the murders at Christmas. Supposely, criticism will end and peace will return as soon as these criminals are sentenced. |

1 Corky, you're not from Cheshire. In fact, you're not even from Connecticut. What business is it of yours if the people of Cheshire choose to light luminarias at Christmas (that IS a Christmas tradition and has been done in various neighborhoods in Cheshire during ALL the 40 years I have lived her. Those luniaria are not a reminder of the savagery of the killings, but rather are a symbol of hope, of caring, and a reminder to all that the light that the Petit women brought to every facet of their lives continues to burn brightly - and that even though they are gone from us, their good works continue. I'm sorry you can't see that, but frankly, since you're not from Cheshire, it's not really any of your concern. |

1 Crime is EVERYONE'S concern. This case should be written about, talked about and dissected to death. This would help with crime prevention. McDonald has every right to expound on any subject he wants. Isn't that what your soldier-hubby is risking his life for? But perhaps there is a bright side. Komisarjevsky seems to be contradicting himself. Perhaps the McDonald book will help to convict him. Still - I think it would be a nice gesture to donate a large chunk to the Petit family foundation. If McDonald helps to convict them and donates, he will end up a hero. |

Dear reads a lot: I agree, crime is everyone's concern. However, I was responding to corky's repeated criticism of the Cheshire Lights of Hope, not any comments on McDonald's book or anything otherwise related to the crimes that took place. I also have never disputed that McDonald has a right to write and publish anything he chooses to, as long as he does it within the law. In this case, the judge imposed a gag order - so the question is, is the book in violation of that? Are JK's interviews with McDonald and his letters to McDonald a violation of the gag order? I think that those questions will be answered in court this month. Have you read the book? I have. My first impression based on a rather quick one-evening reading is that McDonald isn't so much presenting a "what happened in that house" kind of book, but rather, he is laying the foundation for the defense's argument in the penalty phase of the trial - that there are mitigating circumstances what would preclude executing JK. He also puts Hayes in a very negative light at every opportunity while trying to portray JK somehow as a "good" guy who was influenced by circumstances beyond his control. His entire focus is on JK - there is very little mention of the Petits - and he really minimizes what was done to them. If you've read it, I would love to hear your take on the book. |

1 Dear just another poster from meriden, ct, if u figure i'm not from cheshire because of my IPS, then neither r u! What business is it of urs if citizens of cheshire don't like, want or consider candles in bags paraded along a state own rte 10 a distraction to traffic and misrepresenting it as part of the Christmas decorations when it clearly a reminder, a vigil and marker of the petits. I personally don't care for that kind of subject matter as a public display. This fundraiser is not a state of CT public program or Federal holiday, it's a private charity started by the petit girl for her mom. It had gotten to the point of national recognition. So, anyone from anywhere can weigh in on this. So frankly, since your're not free to think outside of this box, what I say isn't really any of ur concern, but ur own ignorance. |

2 That is as funny as Joshua leaving the house after untieing everyone, while steven had mrs. petit at the bank. When they return joshua is gone. Steven went nuts with gasoline just when joshua returned to warn him the cops were on their way. Get a life and stop calling other's fat. |

1 Like I meantioned to Dr. Petit, everyone seems to hing onto what u have to say. Here it is again! Who the hell cares what ur holy self thinks what the Petit woman would approve of by u! Don't u know what a good arguement is all about. No one is killing anyone here, but urself. Cheshirelightsofhope have moved there fundraisers away from the Christmas season & off rte. 10. That's what this whole arguement was about. Not talking about the dead or ur 2 cents, so stay out of it cause it's over and won. Carry onwards Christian soldier. Nice try. |

1 Your ISP says your are in Pawtucket RI - that is nowhere near Cheshire. Are you a college student in RI? The more I read of your ignorant rants, the more it is apparent that you are a kid - a spoiled, nasty selfish kid who thinks that Christmas is about Santa Claus bringing you presents - not about the gift of God's Love for all of us - even those who suffer from disorders like MS. That's what the Lights of Hope represents - the light of God's love for us and our love for others. You're also most likely a friend or relative of the Komisarjevsky's since you are so upset about anyone thinking about or being told what a horrific crime that sociopathic spawn of Satan they took into their family committed. Do you write letters to poor little victim Joshua? I wouldn't be surprised! Keep on carrying on about what citizens of Cheshire want - judging by the enormous support for Lights of Hope - they want this fundraiser to continue. Now, go ask your mommy to change your diaper. |

1 You can't be from Cheshire - our schools don't turn out such ignoramusi, unable to spell or to construct a coherent sentence or logical argument. Perhaps, however, you were homeschooled by a grade school dropout. |

1 Corky or Rena, whichever name you want to go by, you are acting like you won and convinced the event organizers to move away from Christmas and off Rt. 10. Guess what, they will still be set upon Rt. 10 in an area called the "Mile of Hope". I don't think the organizers care what you think, they do what they feel is best for the town. How far away from Christmas works for you? Last years even was 3 weeks before and this coming event is 2 weeks after. You make no sense. My argument (yes, it is spelled that way not the way you continue to spell it) is that you originally questioned it interupting your holiday but now you act lke it has nothing to do with religion. I agree with "Just Another Poster", you have some grudge with the organizers of this event, but are afraid to say. Why not confront them face to face, they seem like nice people? Please stick to one name for now on, it is getting old to see the same 2 names with the same poor grammar posting negativity here. Cheshie's Lights of Hope will continue whether you like it or not and it will be a lovely event. |

1 The subject matter is "In the Middle of the Night" not ur derogatory remarks on how someone types. Suggesting u all read the Hartford's article about the gag order not applying to McDonald or Joshua. Please stop ur vexatious attitude towards others and stay on topic. |
