Steel Magnolias was originally a PLAY that Bobby Harling wrote in 10 days in honor of his sister Susan Harling Robinson, who passed away as a result of her transplanted kidney failing. The screenplay was an adaptation of the actual play. And if you think Weezer was a doting old grandmother type, you obviously never knew any of the women who frequented Iris' Beauty Shop, owned by the late Liz Landrum, which is where Bobby drew most of the inspiration for his characters. His mother and the other characters were all regular patrons of Miss Liz's shop. Now, y'all got that all straight?

Very true; however, this movie is based on real people and real facts, and it happens that the real people are white. I guess next we will have a remake of the movie "Red Tails" staring Robert Redford, Matt Damen, and Johnny Depp.
I got a better one how about a remake of "Roots" starring Toby McGuire, Justin Timberlake, Brian Bosworth and Jack Nicholson? LOL! The Kneegrows would burn down L.A. again!

Are my references to Gilligan's Island, Diner and Benny Hill too high brow for you?

Sorry, I'll try harder to keep my nonsensical posts more grounded for your consumption.

Oh, I get it. The human condition we all share regardless of race, is not real.
What is real is that the real people involved are white. Besides I already agreed with you that all races celebrate and are saddened over the same things. This true story is a White Thing and you simply don't get it. So go back into the hood and enjoy the rest of the evening.

The producers could have written a totally different script to portray the conditions in the black community, but no they decided to bastardize a story about real white people. You really need to get real here.

If you watch it, fine, if not, fine! Your opinion and thoughts really doesn't matter. I'm so sick and tired of the racism. It just a group of stars that wanna remake a movie. Several have done it, whats the problem with it now. But racism it killing us as Americans, white, black, purple or blue we are all one body in Christ. We all going to the same heaven, when we leave this earth. It not color that makes a person make bad decision for themselves, we are just a world with trillon and trillons of different personalitys. No race is greater than the other. We really need to do more praying than gossiping, because the economy it self is in bad shape, and it has been way before Obama, Bush, and Clinton.

Why would they use the same name as a movie about a white family with white relations and friends This is based on a true story It's sad Why do they want to copy white people this way. They can call it whatever they want but it will never be about the original story It will just be another second rate black comedy/attempt at drama like all the other dime a dozen black movies. Won't last long.

I guess you're discovering that "City of Lights" doesn't necessarily mean that its citizens want to SEE the light.
