Yes. I have been to Nuevo Laredo and Nuevo Progresso. Nuevo Progresso is nicer, cleaner, and safer.

If you go to Nuevo Laredo ask for Joel Trevino. He is a "Tourist Guide". He will take you to the doctor and the pharmacy and take good care of you.
He hangs out near the sidewalk bar across from the town square before you get to the open air market.

Bring me back some Valiums.

I don't understand your voting options on here, but you can buy just about anything. You are allowed to bring back so many different pills per person. Just make sure you have a doctor's prescription and declare them when you cross the border. They make you fill out a form and make a xerox of your driver's license. You are allowed to go back once every 3 months.

Bring me back some Valiums.

Sorry I pushed the wrong button, doesn't make sense to poll this, I meant post. But I do need some info. I am planning to make a trip, but have never been before, and kind of nervous. Can the prescription be from a mexican doctor, or are there doctors there with U.S. licenses? I sure hope I can find Joel Trevino. Does anyone there speak English? How do you know which doctor and pharmacy to go? If you get your rx there, is it good to bring back across? Help! My wife wants some diet pills and I need some ephedra. Some pain killers would be a nice bonus. Do they sell that too? Just have no idea what to expect.thanks for any info.

I have been to Progresso Mexico and purchased prescription drugs. You don't not have to have a prescription to bring some drugs back. Narcotic drugs you do need a precription from a Dr. Narcotic not allowed across the border.

Where are you Lizard King? I need more of your wisdom. And to Been There, how long has it been since you went there, to Progresso? This year or say in the past five years. I hear things have changed, so I need some info from someone who has recently been. Any help appreciated.

Need to Know, I was there last November. Got everything I need. No Narcotics across the border without a prescription.

Can you get prescriptions from doctors when you get there? Do the doctors have to be licensed by the U.S. to bring your medicine back across? Can you drink the water? Eat the food? Is there a limit on the stuff you can bring back? I think we will take your advice and go to Progresso, will probaably try and find that Joel dude. We are going next weekend with a friend. He has ageed to pay for the gas if we will take him with us, but it has to be a quick weekend trip. My wife is a dental hygienist , she also wants to possibly look for some used or refurbished dental equipment to do some dental lab work on the side. I am a triathlete, I used to take ephedra to help me train, but can't get it here anymore except with an antihistamine. My wife has had neck surgery, disc fused at c-4 and 5 from cleaning teeth. She takes heavier pain meds sometimes, not on a regular basis. But her neurologist doesn't like writing prescriptions for anything much stronger than celebrex. Just a little nervous about going, have just heard it is so much cheaper to buy medicine, she also wants some oakley sunglasses, an aunt that wants vanilla flavoring. You know some crap like that!Does it matter what pharmacy you go to?

#1.....Vanilla is good. Get the white.
#2.....Do not even think about purchasing a drug of any form without a prescription from your personal physician. You can buy prescription drugs there BUT you have to show your purchases when you come back across the border. AND if they find you with any form of narcotic drugs they will hold you up for hours...and will definately take your drugs away and will slap you in jail quicker than you can bat your eye.
#3.....Don't take any chances. Things have changed in Mexico and they are NOT to American friendly anymore.
#4.....Order bottle water
#5.....Pick a good restaurant. Do not eat anything that is not cooked..for example, lettuce, tomatoes (salad stuff)
#6.....There is a $400.00 limit on what you can bring back. You will see a list of items as you are crossing the border as to what NOT to bring across.
#7.....FORGET the diet pills. You don't know what you are getting there anymore. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks girly girl! Sounds like you know what to do and these are seven rules to live by when crossing the border into Mexico. I will definately remember them. Again appreciate the info.

Hi I went to Progresso last month with friends we bought several drugs that we take and we did NOT need a perscription . You just walk in and tell them what you want including drugs like Xanax and Viagra. I bought a 90 day supply of my expensive medication for $20.00. Also, don't waste money getting a guide. If you walk down main street you will pass several pharmacies. Went I came back through the border we DID NOT have to show ID or fill out any forms. We just told the guard what we bought. I recommend Progresso as being safe and clean. Go have some fun south of the border and don't worry. The medications work just as good as the ones you buy in the U.S.
