Wondering what thoughts are going on out there about Alliance Compressors. I think they are a great company to work for. If anyone out there is looking for long time employment you should check them out.

I worked for Alliance a while ago when I was in nursing school and I don't think it's all that great of a company to work for. The issue I have with them is they hire the majority of their workers as temporary employees and keep them in that status for as long as possible. When I was there there were people who had worked as temps for more than a year, imagine working at a job for over a year with no health insurance, vacation time, etc. Another issue I have with them is they don't promote fairly. I worked with a guy who had worked for the company since it opened, went to school during that time, graduated from college with a Bachelors in Engineering and was a Machining Specialist. That job at Alliance pays a max of about $13/h. Our Team leader was fired and replaced with a 19-year old white guy who was getting ready to start school. What qualified this guy to get that job, he hadn't had the experience or education of the MS but he was the boss. Other than those sort of things I guess it is a great company to work for.

There have been a lot of changes for the better. The management style has changed quite a bit. I've been there a while. Maybe it's not perfect but it is not a bad place to work. It's a lot lot better than it used to be.

mr crna, what color are you? it seems you may have a problem with white people. I don't think a 19 year old should be a supervisor. I might have to check in on that. No one has said anything about that on the line i work on. The company has improved alot since i started there. The only big issue i have is the pay, even the team leaders don't make that much from what i am told. One told me that an ms makes more after over-time. I would like to be a team leader at some point and to make a statement about qualifications, you don't have to know how to run the machines, you have to know how to handle people fairly and honestly. That's what ms and fst's are for, if they would do their jobs, then the team leader could do his or hers. since,i have been there, team leaders that were ms's don't always make the best ones, they know how to run the machines but, don't have any people experience. My team leader does a great job i feel and he was not an ms or anything else in the company when he was hired.

I am black and if you happen to read any of my posts, you would see that I have a problem with lazy blacks and not white people. The guy that was made team leader name was Andy, team leader of shell fab and kitting in 2004, he was fired about a year and half later for messing around with one of his employees (I guess that's handling people fairly). It's common sense to know that not all ms's make good team leader, but the fact is that this ms applied for the job and Andy got the job. If the job had gone to another white guy with a college degree or experience at being a team leader then it would be no issue, but the job was awarded to a guy with absolutely no qualifications. Also, about the pay, they told you what the pay was when you filled out the application, overall my opinion of Alliance is it should be a job for someone "passing through" on their way to doing something else in life, just like McDonald's.

You 2 can go ahead and drive to Alexandria, move there if you want. The temps roll over to full time pretty quick and there are more jobs there that can pay up to $16 an hour. There have been quite a few changes since you left mr CRNA. I remember the team leader that you were talking about. Sometimes bad decisions are made to put inexperienced people in jobs, but maybe there were some bad experiences with the person that you thought should have gotten the job in the first place. Just because someone has a degree or is a Machining Specialist does not make them qualified to be a team leader. There are Engineers and some of the other people that work in the front office that would not have a snowball's chance in hell at making it as a team leader out there. Then there are some that only have a high school diploma that would make good team leaders.

They were suppose to when they opened to pay starting out around 12-15 hour. But thanks to JS he stoped that cause people from Pilgrims Pride would be leaving there. Also heard they are building one in Mexico and just how long do you think this one will stay open with the cheaper labor over there? Also heard they have cut out overtime which now days that is how most people make it. Will not be suprise if it shuts down.NO jobs are secure!

I guess you can't read because I know I stated that being a MS or FST doesn't automatically qualify someone to be a team leader, but no legit company hires someone to run a department with no experience in anything at all. You say things have changed since I left, well I would hope so that was almost 4 years ago (I doubt that things have changed as much as you say). If you think you can make it on $16/hr more power to you, but it's hard to make any money when the damn plant is closes down all the time

Try Manpower. If they use alot of temps that's most likely where they get them from.
