Well,I hope you aren't planning on dying so soon, but for my money,I would get a 5 year term life insurance policy. Not sure how old you are,but it is affordable. The same company should offer policies for your children. I am no agent, but I use State Farm. Just my preference. Hope that helps.

State Farm is excellent, but any of the insurance brokers who advertise as Independent Insurance Agents can sit down with you at their offices and answer any question you might have. If you're on a budget, and don't have a lot to spend for premiums dont be shy about telling them. If you're looking for a policy with a major company like MetLife or New York Life Insurance, tell them that too.

We have a $100,000 policy on my hubby. He's a smoker and 45 and only pay $60 a month. Call kilpatrick life ins. They pay 30 days after policy has been in force.

And check to see what the company's credit rating is through Standard & Poor's or AM Best Ratings. If the company has poor credit, they may try to stiff you on paying you for your claim. I wouldn't even fool with a local or Louisiana based company. I would go major and national for a good solid policy. And you get major points for being a loving responsible parent. How many people bother with how their kids will make it if something happens to them? Not many, that I've seen.

some types of insurance you can build cash value,
but as you get older the cost of insurance
goes up. forty years ago i bought a policy from
new york life, they told me if I made payments
for 12 years than the cash value would keep it
in force for life, don't believe that. if you
live to be in your 70's the cost will get so high
that it will eat up your cash value.

It's the ultimate shell game. The word insurance...sounds so...secure, doesn't it. But the policy, like the great OZ is working behind the curtain, making up their own rules as they go along. So it's secure...but for whom?
