Ok, is it just me or does ANYONE else have questions on why on does Lakeview High School let teen mothers on heir homecoming court? These young ladies are suppose to the elite of the school, not MOTHERS. Where do you draw the line? Where are the boundaries? Sampson, what the hell were you thinking??!! It is your responsibility to have a check on such things happening at YOUR school. It just makes you look worse than everyone else there!

Not that i approve of teen pregnancy...but doesn't it set more of an example to stay in school and take responsibility than to drop out of school or to have an abortion. just my opinion... i think they are brave young girls to stay in school and to even run for something like that.

If they didn't allow it, then they open up a large lawsuit.

Also, the school only has jurisdiction during the school day. Anything that happens outside the school is of no concern to them.

The students pick the court, not the teachers or principal. It seems they thought she was deserving.

I have to agree w/ Just Wondering..even though I feel teen pregnancy is a real problem and don't condone it, I don't feel it should keep these young mothers from participating in and being a part of school activities. As Umm said, the court is chosen by the students. I admire any teen mom who stays in school to get an education, thus creating a future for herself and her child...so hopefully we (the taxpayers) won't have to.

In addition, I'd venture to guess there are more than a few teen FATHERS on the football field, but we never hear anything about THAT!

Times have changed...whether we like it or not. As long as these young mothers are doing something positive we should support them...they shouldn't be punished for a mistake that could have happened to so many of us! They just happened to get caught...think about it.

No, these young ladies are supposed to be the most attractive girls in the school. They don't put cows/dogs on the homecoming court unless there's guilt involved. Fact is that HS guys like chicks who put out, and these definitely do. Hey, nobody wants to go to bed with an ugly chick unless they have to. Therefore, if they're hot, young and willing - who cares if they have a kid? I'd do em!

You are all obviously young people. Cool, they stayed in school, but they should not have that opportunity.
When you have the student body voting, then you really have to worry, they are looking up to these girls and think it is all ok. No! They can not be sued by the way for this, is is called rules and regulations! AND they are not voted on because of looks, hello, have we seen all of these girls? that would be the most obvious reason they weren't voted in.
They got caught was a good thought, but, doesn't make it ok.
These young girls should think to themselves, this is what I'd like one day, so I need to keep myself out o trouble, not its ok to have babies. There has to be consequences and boundaries.

Personally, I don't think pregnant girls or mothers should be on a homecoming court. It is a shame.

With that said.....
1) A lawsuit would be slapped on the school quicker than anything. Believe me, it would.
2) And why do the guys who have fathered children allowed to play on the football team or even act as escorts for the court??

I don't approve of it, but the school's hands are tied.
Its a shame we have stooped this low.

it is not sad, what is sad are you people thinking you have the right to judge anyone. i think it takes alot for these girls to stay in school after having a child,it's not like they murdered anyone or maybe you people would perfer if they did.wait til it happens to someone close to u, obvisously it hasn't yet.

I'm not a young person...I'm over 50. I never said it was OK to have a baby out of wedlock, as I said I certainly don't condone it, but I am saying that these young ladies should be allowed to participate in this activity. I don't think allowing them to do so is making the statement that it's OK to have a baby. To disallow them would be a punishment...and it's not for you or anyone else to punish them.

Furthermore, until the young MEN in this scenario are judged and "punished" in the same manner, it is hardly fair.

I also think that judgmental people with that "holier than thou" attitude should take stock of mistakes they've likely made in their own lives, and consider that if someone in their past had reacted the same way to what they may have deemed morally wrong...they may have missed out on some opportunities because in someone else's eyes they were deemed unworthy.

Please live and let live....to do otherwise really reflects your own misery and judgmental attitude making you really worse off than the people you target.

Sorry, but I don't condone anything that hate dad fellow says. Teen pregnancy is a serious issue and should not be made light of. And furthermore, I can assure you that none of my friends are "common" so you must be mistaken...

i graduated high school 4 years ago and our homecoming queen was pregnant. i think it is ashame that the schools allow that. these girls are suppose to be role models for others and in my eyes they are not!!! its none of my or any body elses business what they do at home but i think there should be rules and guidelines that have to be followed and met when it comes to activities at school. it was embarressing when people would ask about our pregnant homecoming queen. yeah i know things happen but let the ones who truley deserve it shine!!

They couldn't stop her from entering, the legal definition is discrimination.

Miss America is a private competition, one that has their own guidelines and one that you have to pay to enter. A homecoming competition is not the same, and since it is part of a school function, they can't restrict it.

Same way with the schools that have had men as homecoming and prom queens.

she is a normal teen just like all the others. theyre guna do things ur mother dont want u to. just so happen hers was unlucky. so what? its here life, her business, but thats her baby & homecoming is over with its all done. why start throwing a fit now. its not that great for homecoming court. all it is is popularity & everybody loves her.. she has many friends..so her friends put her on it. sampson didnt have anyting to say..its not any1s choice to put her there but ur kids & grandkids so instead of getting on her talking abt her try persuading ur kids not to vote 4 her. not her fault she won..

people are CRAZY.so what???they have kids(and there were 2 mothers on homecoming court).and i happen to know one of them better than most people!!but they are raising their kids, and finishing school, and plan on going to college!!teens get pregnant everyday, not that it should be that way,but it is.the only problem with teen pregnancy is when the teens dont take responsibility, grow up,and raise their child.if you have a problem with teen parents on hc court, the solution is DONT GO WATCH!no one said you had to agree...but would you rather those teen moms set a better example for their children, or not?highschoolers choose hc court.if their peers dont have a problem with it,neither should you.end of story.remember, they might be moms, but they are only teenagers, they dont deserves GROWN UPS downing them when they get enough of it everyday.
