Brett Ferguson is new doctor to the Natchitoches,la. I have brought my 3 year old son to his office on 4 occasions. The first 2 visits were more of a check up and making sure his ears were healing after an ear infection. The 3rd visit he showed signs of a cold but I wanted to make sure his ears were not infected. I left with no meds and him telling me to let it ride out. After a week I returned for this last visit with concerns that My sons health had gotten worse. The doctor came in with an attutide that he already had his mind made up that he was not going to give any medication. After checking out my son he simply said with a short unconcerned attitude. "he's got a cold. This can continue for up to 4 weeks. There is nothing I can do. If you want medicine I suggest you can go to another doctor. I've seen children die so your son is not sick." the he told me I could leave when I was ready and left the room." I got a second opinion. My son had double ear infection with a severe sore throat that was causing him not to eat. This doctor showed no signs of concern for my son. And told me nothing about his ears becoming infected again or that his loss in appetite is a result of the sore throat. I would not recommend his care nor will I be returning!!!

You think he is a bad doctor, dr william luster is just as bad. Please don't go there, bad attitude and a complete lack of passion for his patients.

just because a dr doesnt give you the medicine you want for your child, does not mean he is a bad dr. all 3 of my children have been there and he has resolved all issues. dr. ferguson is ant-antibiotic doctor (in my opinion) but that just means he stands by his moral that kids do not need to be put on unnecessary medicines for a commom illness that will "run its course". and furthermore, everytime we go there, when he is finished with our appt he says "okay, yall can go whenever yall are ready" its not that he is rushing you off or running you off or being rude, that is just how he wraps up his appts.! Dr. Ferguson and his staff are wonderful, and very accomaditing at getting you in and doing what is best for your children. I hate that you have had a bad experience, but ours has been wonderful and with his growing patient flow, id say more ppl feel the same! thank you to all at Natchitoches Pediatric Associates :))

i have to strongly disagree with the first persons comment. i brought my 7 week old baby in for the first time this week and had an EXCELLENT appointment. every body has their own thoughts, but to bash someone on a public forum is not nice. dr ferguson was very helpful and did prescribe my baby the proper medicine and within 2 days he is already doing better. i reccommend him to all people in natchitoches and surrounding areas needing a good doctor that doesnt just prescribe medicines to shut ppl up. he gets to the root of the problem! im glad he helped my baby.

I have 3 sons and am expecting my 4th one in April. I met Dr. Ferguson for the first time yesterday and was very satisfied. He treated the children and I very well and was very concerned with their conditions. My 4 yr. old had an ear infection and my 8 yr old had severe allergies, he took time and asked questions and was very helpful. My children are already feeling better today and I am thankful. I am also thankful to have found a good pediatrician for all my boys!!

i brought my friend and her baby to this dr and he was so helpful. she is asian and her baby had not seen a dr in 7 months. he closed the gap and corrected immunization schedule and was very good at communicating with her. the nurse was very gentle with the baby and the girl at the front desk was so pleasant and made the whole process a lot smoother. i am glad they here and called to offer their office donuts the next morning.

I applaud Dr. Ferguson for not giving antibiotics. Any doctor will tell you that 9 times out of 10 an illness will resolve without any intervention other than comfort measures. A cold is the result of a VIRUS, and antibiotics don't work on viruses, only on bacterial infections. The overuse of antibiotics and antibacterial soaps, wipes, and household cleaners is what is causing all these germs to become antibiotic resistant and creating all these "superbugs". Good for Dr. Ferguson for standing up for his principles. If we weren't already very happy with our current pediatrician, I would use him for my child, simply because he's not script happy!

He should not give your child an antibiotic for a cold as this is a virus but he should have given you drops to put in his ears for the ear infections. I don't use the Pediatricians in Natchitoches. I take mine to Shreveport and love the care they receive there. It is definitely worth the drive.

I took my 11 month old to see him Thursday for a runny nose and him acting different. We all know when something is wrong with our child. turns out he had an ear infection and he showed me where it was infected. I have never had a doctor do that. It was a nice experience. I could see what was causing my infant discomfort. He also took the time to ask about my 5 year old, whom he saw for a physical two weeks earlier. I liked him and will continue to bring my children to him. He was open, honest, and very nice to my children. He wasn't like many pediatricians who talk only to the parent, he asked my 5 year old questions and listened to his answers. I liked that.

I have four children and have been going to him since he opened his practice....anyone that has more than one child knows i might as well set up shop during the times of illness...because we tend to be there that often....HE IS by far the most amazing, kind, considerate, and compassionate doctor I have EVER taken my children to. I trust his judgment and his character....he gets my kids in when they are sick, any issues we have had, he more than takes the time to explain and discuss any issues we have. Im sorry you had a bad experience, but i must say this is not the norm.

I am just curious as to what kind of medicine your 7 week old baby received. I've never met a doctor that gave a baby that young medicine, and I have 4 children. I've been to Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth Area), and to different parts of Louisiana.

I have been going to Dr. Ferguson since his practice opened. He is very friendly and highly concerned about the health of his patients. He even took our phone calls after hours. He also has a very good staff that are very warm and welcoming. This is the best care my daughter has received from a pediatrician. Keep up the good work Dr. ferguson and your team.

FYI - recent article came out about antibiotics causing obesity. People in food industry know that animals given antibiotics grow much bigger (& make them more money), but no one has really addressed this side effect in humans till now

Dr Ferguson is the worse doctor I've ever seen he called ocs on me cause I wanted a second opinion from another doctor because he wanted to admit my 2 week old baby in the hospital for jaundice and he didn't even run any test on my baby so he told me that's fine and open the door for me to leave after calling my my friend and idiot during the visit he was very rude the whole visit so I took my baby to the hospital myself and ocs was already there they admitted the baby in the hospital and said his jaundice levels was a little high but not critical like the doctor had said. Ferguson ordered that my baby be put on fluids on the rate of 100 even the nurses was concerned about that the next day Ferguson said he was doing good and he was going to let me take my baby home a couple hours later ocs came in the room and told me that the state was taking the baby because Ferguson said I wasn't feeding my baby enough cause my baby had lost one ounce he has told lies on me he is a very bad doctor I want to warn people please don't go to that doctor he might do the same to somebody else he is heartless
