Well,Just Asking I am a tax payer like you, i contacted one of the girls and found out that they did have meetings this morning. They finished at 10:30, if you had a question you should have called them yourself and asked them what they were doing, instead of posting it on topix!
Did you notice someone doesn't want them helping special groups? I have decided some of these people are so unhappy until they spend ALL of their spare time trying to make EVERYONE else unhappy. They remind me of a cat with it tail under the rocker of a chair. They just GOT TO Hollar about something. That is the way they keep their own self contented. SO let the hollar.

I think they should be in the law enforcement business not in the raise money for charity business. If they want to help children with disabilities they should help those in Natchitoches Parish. We should not be making a show at the casinos with parish cars and parish employees on parish time raising money for non parish residents.
There are lots of people that need help right here close to home.
Please read and try to understand post #37. There is also another post trying to help SOME OF YOU understand what is going on at this time. IF you ever have a child I HOPE PEOPLE DON'T TREAT YOUR CHILD THE WAY YOU WANT TO TREAT SOME OF THEIRS.

I would NOT dare to put my child or anyone else's child's name on this forum. If you don't like the idea of supporting ANYONE'S child in ANY program....that is YOUR choice....but some of us don't pay attention to where you live, what color you are or even what your name is.....A CHILD IS A CHILD and those less fortunate than others need SPECIAL HELP. Saint Jude has HELPED A WHOLE BUNCH OF CHILDREN and the hospital is NOT in Natchitoches Parish. I'll CONTINUE to support children anytime, anywhere and especially those less fortunate. You are also entitled to your opinion. I hope you have a nice day.

Jake you and your other friends on here have no idea what your talking about, you know nothing about special olympic or what is done in Natchitoches Parish(or other areas) to help our local athletes and as far as I'm concerned it's really none of your business, your just a trouble maker and like I said early, if it really upsets you and you think that their spending tax payer's money why don't you talk to Victor he will be gald to answer all of your questions.

I'm guessing you want to know how to respond to a certain quote. All you have to do is click on "reply" in the upper right hand corner. It automatically post their comment for you to reply to.

Thanks, again! I belong to a message board, where there is a sidebar with options: image, link, email, quote, center, code,-HR-(whatever that is!). The "reply" only posts your comment, using the same "subject" line, unless you modify it. The sidebar allows you to post links, pictures, quotes, etc. automatically. Much more versatility. And there's no annoying "number verification"...

To get back on topic. Did anyone read the Letter to the Editor in today's Natchitoches Times? Both letters were about the NPSD. Apparently, there are only a couple officers on duty to serve the entire parish. Wonder why? The one letter stated 911 was called for an accident on Hwy 117, the fire dept. got there first, ambulance finally got there, and the NPSD got there when everything was almost over. Imagine that. Not sure about anyone else but I see more of them in town than out.

I'm sure there are a more than a couple on. There is usually 5-6 patrol deputies, 1-2 state troopers, along with task force, criminal patrol, and detectives.( of couse the latter isn't always on they have their certain times. The fire department arrived first because they have personell and their stations located close by. The ambulance ( finally got there), well it takes quick dispatching on the part of the Sheriff's office and the caller who calls in to report injuries, and they can only go so fast. The sheriff's department, Have you seen the size of this parish? It is about 60 miles from end to end, and do you know what all the sheriff's office was doing at the time? They may have been making an arrest , working other accidents, on other calls. The saying goes you can have as many people on as you want but it rarely is enough and there will always be times when what you have isn't enough.
I understand what you say, but that isn't the only incident going on in the parish, and everyone is doing their jobs the best they can, i'm sure they aren't just sitting twittling their thumbs, while someone needs their help.

It has been that way for years. MM might be in Campti and then get a call to have to go almost to the line near Lena. Thought they were suppose to put more cars out in the parish? Yeah your right about seeing them all in the City. Who knows anything any more. Do know you won't find out the truth.

I thought the buzz for a couple years was that the officers from the City were leaving to go to the SO, if so where the hell is everyone? Inside the city? And, if they are both short handed, someone needs to address the problem! That won't happen until the citizens of Natchitoches and the parish voice their opinions. They should flood the office with phone calls. I'm sorry they're short handed but you can only use that as a crutch for so long. proxyroxy, I already know the truth....that's why you'll notice most don't respond to my comments, the truth hurts!

They are only going to do WHAT they want to do. As you know the citizens of Natchitoches will NOT speak out. They don't want to rock the boat.Your right about the truth hurts. They DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THAT! It is a dog eat dog world. They try to make people believe that the town is so safe and a great place to retire in. It is so much wrong going on not only on the streets but also in the Public Offices. You just can't get enough people to stick together. They are all scare to speak out.

If the number of police on the street or the quality of schools were on the index of things measured to determine the "Best Places to Retire" they would be addressed quickly. Since schools, police response timeb, quality job availability and citizen apathy are not included in this measure, don't expect any changes.

Well all I can say to you is this, since the tax election I have personally seen an increase in the staff at the Sheriff's Department (patrol). I can also say that they truly bust their buts for the citizens of this parish, I do not know of anyone out there sitting on their buts. I don't know of any one there who has an I don't care attitude. It seems that since that election they have increased patrols, I hear them making more arrests on the scanners than they used to and I also hear them stopping more people now that in the past. Have you though that the call volume is increased from what it used to be and that they are working hard to keep up? My suggestion to you is put in an applications and go work with these guys and see for yourself how it is. One of the cops might be tied for hours while dealing with an arrest, filling out paperwork, and putting in jail. Their jobs isn't always just arrest and throw in jail. There is alot of paperwork that time that goes into the job other than a cut and dry situation. They must have all their paperwork in a row or the case gets thrown out when they go to court. Have you considered that the sheriff's department is also still responsibile for the city, that they assist the city as well the city helps then when needed. Are you aware there are several locations near the city that is in the parish's jurisdiction? Did you know that they have to routinely go through the city to get to other areas of the pairsh? I mean it does sit at the crossroads of this parish. There is also a deputy that stays in the area of the city and surrounding area to go to calls there and patrol as well as provide assistance to the deputies in the surrounding areas when needed.
I hate to say it but, everywhere you go there is problems with something. Like I said previously you can never have enough people, cars, etc to cover everything all the time. I do remember when there were limited amounts of people out there and yes it took a while to get help sometimes but things have changed. If you live in the middle of gorum, and some of the other far reaches of the parish it does take time to get there from anywhere. As the saying goes they can't be everywhere at once. I also know on the weekends they also increase patrols over the regular 5-6 patrol, on these days there is usually more like 8 on in the parish. But, believe what you will this pairsh is good at complaining on everything, just like eyes on natchitohes bringin in a debate about schools in the forum on Sheriff's department, I think they are still upset the school wanted to remove or choose what they place in vending machines.
If more people would quit complaining on these forums and go and seek action this parish would be a better place for it. This is why you elect "YOUR" officials, because you get to decide who you want representing your community. They are there to speak with and to voice your concerns, but you complaints here will only last until ya'll get tired of talking about it and the thread goes down the page.

I have applied for a job there but they were given to friends that have already retired from either the S.O. are another job..Now they are drawing double pay..Jobs also created for special friends from the south end...Its not what you know it's who you know..You are so wrong..There is less patrol now than ever. Get your facts right....
