I was going through about 4:45 and there were State troopers just showing up, so I assumed it happened around 4:30. I saw a helicopter air lifting someone. I just wondered if anyone knew anything about it.
It happened on Hwy. 9 in Creston.

I was one of the first to drive up on the scene headed north on hwy 9. The cops hadn't shown at up at the time. I met the older couple who lived in the house outside of that curve, and she told me what had happened. When I got there, the man who was driving the car was just holding the child. No one really knew what to do. I was instructed to move along as soon as the state trooper showed up and cleared the other lane.

I came through the area as it was being cleared. I pray for the family of the baby, may God be with them. As a mother myself, I could not imagine the hurt this family is going through. God bless them and help them through this horrible experience.

Let's not forget to pray for the driver of the truck and also the ones that work the wreck. I see how it affects the EMS folks first hand when they have to see a tragidy like that.

Dear Lord, please be with the family who lost their presous child, and to the driver put your loving arms around him. And Lord bless the EMS personel who worked the accident. AMEN

Before everyone gets started with the accusations please take a moment and think about the family of the child and the trucker that was involved and the lives that are forever changed. Please take the high road with this one and remember the christian way. Lets just pray for all involved and be supportive. Thank you Ck

The driver of the car is Billy Nelson. He is the father of my two children, but has nothing to do with them. The 3 yr. old was my sons half-brother. He is in ICU i think.

About the wreck on Highway 9. The car driver's name is Billy Nelson. He's in ICU with brain bleeding, a damaged liver and crushed pelvic. I know this cause he's the father of my two boys, but has nothing to do with them. His family called me last night to let me know. His 3 year old was my boys half-brother. We don't get along, but I am praying for them cause I don't wish the death of a child on anyone.

Child Dies In Crash

On Monday, October 29, 2007, at 4:26 pm, Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal crash involving two vehicles. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 9, milepost 7.4, in Natchitoches Parish. This location is in the Creston Community.

The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Mr. Billy Ray Nelson (W/M 30 yrs) of Saline, LA. The other vehicle involved was a 2007 Mack Tractor (18 wheeler), driven by Mr. Ralph E. Ware (B/M 42 yrs) of Coushatta, LA. The Chevrolet Malibu was north bound on LA Hwy 9 and the Mack Tractor was south bound on LA Hwy 9. The Chevrolet Malibu failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the center line into the opposing lane of travel. The Chevrolet Malibu and the Mack Tractor then collided.

Mr. Billy Ray Nelson was flown to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport with critical injuries.

Mr. Ralph E. Ware was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital with minor/moderate injuries.

The only passenger in the Chevrolet Malibu was Tyler Nelson (3 yrs) of Saline, LA. He sustained fatal injuries. All indications show Tyler was not properly restrained in a child safety seat.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

Troop E Troopers have investigated a total of 62 fatal crashes for the year of 2007, resulting in 68 fatalities.

Billy is from Old River Road in Natchez and his wife is from Saline, where they now live. His dad's name is Raymond Nelson and his wife's name is April Davis Nelson, the daughter of Robert Davis land surveyor here in Natchitoches.

This is so sad. God bless all families involved.
That is one dangerous highway! I travelled it many times while in college (shortcut from Natchitoches to Grambling).
