Thinking, your correct...my hurt goes beyond the individuals involved. What is so bad is that the environment supporting this type of things exists here everyday, unchallenged. And when something awful like this happens, everybody gets upset...but the field from which this grows will not be weeded, and it will undoubtedly happen again. How many more times will things like this happen again?
Yes it will happen again. I have kept saying the crime in this town was out of control. The lack of police does not help.

Woman killed, man seriously injured during shooting incident today in Natchitoches

A Natchitoches woman was killed, a man was airlifted to a hospital and the woman's small child was injured this afternoon after the adults were shot and then wrecked their car a few moments later, Natchitoches Police said.
Police are still looking for the man they say is responsible for killing Shanay Calhoun, 23, and seriously injuring Craiger Watson, 35, also of Natchitoches. Calhoun’s young son suffered minor injuries after Calhoun wrecked her Suburban shortly after the shooting, said Lt. Cary Hargrove, public information officer for the Natchitoches Police Department.
Police are looking for Kendrick Williams, 28, of 1015 Sixth St., Natchitoches, who they say shot into the vehicle while it was stopped in front of his home, Hargrove said. Apparently a fight erupted between those in the Suburban and Williams and others standing in front of the Sixth Street home around 12:20 p.m., police reported.
Calhoun was shot in the throat and Watson in the upper torso, Hargrove said. There were several people in the area as there is a “fairly busy” car detail shop next door to the home, Hargrove said.

There's sure no lack of police CARS! Pass by the police station, there's at least 20 cars sitting there at all times, day or night.

Maybe if the cops would stop wasting their time arresting the wrong people half the time & making up reports to match the person they arrested, they might, just might, actually catch the right person before they commit another crime. There are alot of people in DT right now who are there falsely accused. That means the real criminals are still roaming free...

That is so much BS. Every damn town in the US that has the amount of low income, low expectations, low educated, etc. population has this happen every day. Was it a drug deal gone bad? Probably, but to blame this situation on the "arrogant divide in this town" is a crock of crap. You sir are certainly an idiot.
Although there is "an arrogant divide in this town", the divide did not cause or contribute to this tragic event. We will see about the response to follow. That is where the divide will emerge.

You seem so happy to announce that a divide will emerge. This is unfortunately a personal or drug related event. Why should a divide emerge? Answer O' great one who thinks he has all the answers and is always more than willing to post his intelligence.

I totally disagree. I think TEXAS street is nothing but a crappy street and everything I MEAN EVERYTHING needs to be bulldozed down and rebuilt. The side streets are not any better. Dope heads and alcoholic and ladies for the day and night strolling around need to be ARRESTED. Where the hell are the cops in this town? Something is shady. If I lived here I would make a point of exposing all of the BAD ones and from what I hear that would be cleaning up 97%of the force including the big guy raciest.

Natchitoches Shooting Suspect Not Inside Home, Search Continues

An ongoing argument between two Natchitoches men over a woman has left the woman dead, one man in the hospital and the other man on the run from police.
Natchitoches Police say the shooting happened on Sixth Street about 10:15 am. According to police, 28-year-old Kendrick Williams, who lives at the home where the shooting happened, was involved in an ongoing argument with Creggor Watson over Shanay Calhoun. KSLA News 12 was told that as Watson and Calhoun drove past the home in a white SUV, Williams opened fire. The SUV sped off, only to lose control and crash a couple of blocks away. All three victims were inside the SUV.
Police say Calhoun was shot twice in the neck and once in the chest. She died at the scene. Watson was airlifted to LSU Hospital for unknown injuries. A four-or-five-year-old child in the car was injured when the SUV wrecked. Police say the child was not hit by gunfire.
After the shooting police thought Williams could still be in the home. Authorities got a search warrant and a SWAT team went into the home, but Williams was not there. The search for him continues. If you have any information regarding Kendrick Williams, please call the Natchitoches Police

This what I mean about the divide. This tragedy is not uniting the community...rather we have people here calling for its destruction.
