Detectives with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Metro Division and the Natchitoches Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force closed a four-month methamphetamine investigation that began in October 2012, according to reports.
Investigators say SWAT teams and the Haz-Mat Units from both agencies were also used when the detectives located one active methamphetamine lab and eight inactive labs along Setliff Road within the Mora and Flatwoods area.
Investigators say Robbie Setliff, 46, of Mora and Obadiah Kramer, 24, also of Mora are in custody at the Rapides Parish jail Friday with a bond of $27,750 each.
Rapides Parish detectives also arrested Melinda S. Bennett, 42, and Dennis Setliff, who live on Setliff Road with a 10-year-old child, were not home at the time the Rapides warrant was executed. But in Natchitoches, Bennett and Setliff were charged for their involvement in this investigation, detectives say.
Natchitoches detectives also made arrests in Flatwoods on Smith Road. Greg Setliff and Gretta Dewitt were located at 383 Smith Road. Michael A. Smith, Juanna Green, Melinda Bennett and Glenda Edwards were found at 387 Smith Road, according to reports.
Natchitoches detectives say they found eight active methamphetamine labs among the homes and estimate remnants and remains of nearly 50 prior clandestine labs or "cooks."
Detectives say five children, ages 7-10, were present and living in and around the hazardous chemicals associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine at these locations.

We get it, white people commit crimes too. But do I really have to post the 10 crimes committed by blacks for the every one you post committed by whites?

Hallelujah for getting rid of these labs and removing those precious children from those deadly environments. I used to live in a state that was #1 in the nation for meth labs, in the county that was #1 in the STATE for meth labs and you can't begin to imagine what those environments are like. I worked in an ER and whenever those labs were busted and children were present, they had to be brought to the ER and drug-tested because they had been around that. Those precious babies almost INVARIABLY tested POSITIVE for meth, just from being around that evil mess being cooked. I've also worked on children who were burned when the damned things blew up. Great job by our law enforcement agencies. METH KILLS, in more ways than one. Hope they arrest dozens more involved with this evil, evil drug from hell.

I have no idea. I was commenting on the general problem of children who are subjected to this insanity. The lives ruined by meth are immeasurable and everything that can be done to get rid of it, I'm all for. Anyone who messes with this stuff around their kids deserves to be hit with every child endangerment law out there. JMHO.

I don't think they were in it for the money.Just all heavy users, stealing from one another, and who could they report it to.."oh someone stole my stuff and I'm trying to make meth"..LOL It's just sad that those children were subjected to such a mess. And from the ages of most of the ones arrested, you'd think they'd know better. NOT!! Its been an on-going problem out there, and I hope they have not finished getting all that are involved. Apparently you don't know the area very well, where they were busted is a very remote area with lots of wooded areas, its not in Flatwoods, its a little community they call Boones Borough, and getting anyone undercover would be easy. All they had to do was show up with ingredients for a cooking and they could become best friends in the snap of your fingers. I commend Natchitoches and Rapides Parishes task force for all they have done. I just hope they continue till they get them all!! And I hope they have "tweeked" till every bone in their body hurts!

i fully understand that these people should have never started using in the first place...but unless you have ever suffered with an addiction you have no idea what it is like. it doesnt have to be drugs. are you over weight and cant lose it due to you can make your self eat right or exercise...do you smoke and claim you cant quite. i have never had a drug addiction but have been told the two things i just mentioned are not even close to the pull of drugs like meth and crack have on a person. most of these people i understand have NO criminal history. if it was your son, daughter, brother, sister would you feel the same? sometimes good people get caught up in bad choices and just need help getting back on their feet. sometimes a person can be saved with help and sometimes they will be repeat offenders. I think if it is someone's first time ever to be in trouble we as a society should want to try to see them get help first and not wish horrible things on them. drugs can happen to any family, do not think for a minute that nobody in your family could not end up in this same boat.

we see money blowed on things alot worse than people.....putting them in jail for 20 years we are still taking care of them. why not give first time offenders a chance to be productive in society again....just my opinion

Interesting point, outside, and one worth considering. However, the number of people who manage to get clean and stay clean are FAR, FAR outnumbered by the ones who don't. And won't.
