Isn't it time to take the Erie Canal out of the Thruway system and have the people that use the canal pay for it?
Why are the people who use the Thruway paying for the maintenance of the Erie Canal?
The canal runs at a loss every year and money from the Thruway has to pay for it.

Brings in about 2 million and costs about 90 million to run a loss of 88 million the Thruway tolls have to make up

The canal generates $240 million in tourist dollars to upstate communities. Cuomo dumped the toll idea because he's been bought off by corporate interests who will help bankroll his bid for POTUS. Cuomo behind the scenes is running the TA & was for the toll hikes until big business told him to back off if he wants any campaign dollars.
