If you live in Bellmore watch out heading n/b on Newbridge Rd & Bellmore Ave. The right turn lane curves and according to the ticket i got you have to stop at that white line. I got one & thought there was "no turn on red" You can make right on red. Then 4 days later another one in the mailbox. My husband. Guess what -same spot as mine. Realized you can watch the video and sure enough both of us kinda glided thru it. Its the way the right lane curves off onto Bellmore Ave. I couldnt stop laughing then realized I am out $100. Shit happens - my taxes better go down b/c I know they are nailing everyone over there.

Yup, this is simply a ploy to make money. If you haven't noticed, the state will tax you everywhere, but that wasn't enough, so they come up with these stupid things. What a shame.

People complain about the "Big greedy corporations", but I'd take them over the "Big greedy Government" anytime!

Guess what? This program is run by a big greedy company. The county just gets a piece of the action. So what happens when a companies' financial health relies on income from traffic tickets? They find ways to increase revenue. Maybe they start tweaking the system to flag more borderline infractions.
If you check out their website you'll find the following:
A Red Light Camera Violation CANNOT be pled to a lesser offense.
A Red Light Camera Violation fine CANNOT be reduced.

So if you get a ticket, you have to pay it. No arguments allowed.

But you can be happy knowing that you are supporting a 'Big Greedy Corporation'
just wondering

What happens if the company goes kaput? About 6 months ago a company that allowed airline customers smoother access to their flight (think e-z pass for the airports) did go kaput. It cost 200 bucks to join (no refund when they went out of business) AND the saps that joined had to provide retinal scans and fingerprints. Who did this company share this info with? HOMELAND SECURITY! 250,000 idiots joined. I'm sorry, I cannot remember what the name of the company was.
For a moment forget the iris and fingerprint thing; 250 k x 200 dollars equals how much?
Anyone, any help here? What was that company? Who owned it?

Actually, I agree with you, however, it's important to note that it's the Government's greed that fuels this companies sales. Someone at the company KNEW they could get lawmakers to buy these things...because the polititians are all greedy; the company took advantage of that fact. It happens all the time in government. In fact, almost EVERY piece of legislation (republican OR democrat) is lobbied heavily for by a company, person, or individual that stands to make a fortune.

Just like all this global warming BS. It's all about companies who stand to make fortunes....and "alternative energy" providers trying to steal market share from "big oil". I'm not opposed to cleaner renewable energy...but too much legislation is passed simply to benefit companies and organizations, rather than working on what's ACTUALLY the best solution. I'll point to Ethanol as a great example. There's all kinds of problems with it, and many say it's actually WORSE for the environment (because you have to ship it with diesel trucks and have to cut forests to make enough room to grow it all). I'm not here to debate wether global warming is real or not (I'm still undecided). My point is that too much government action (like global warming, or traffic light cameras, for example) is all 'smoke and mirrors' so someone can make a buck; It's impossible to know if something is actually a GOOD thing or not, because the truth is hidden by greedy politicians and companies who stand to make money. Especially something that is for "safety" or "the environment". It's an 'easy win' for the politicians to score political points, even and others soak up the profits.

Thanks LI guy - people conveniantly forget - or deliberately choose the 'easy' thing.
Sometimes the news item is so small (the example
i cited regarding ez pass at airports) it seems the puppeteers don't want it to be noticed.
BUT people, be smarter! Stay one step ahead.

I agree that politicians can easily be corrupted. That's why we must hold them accountable and not just say,'That's the way it is'.
It's up to us to decide what makes sense for us.
I'm tired of every issue being broken down to a liberal vs. conservative answer. Things are more complicated than that.

Exactly! The whole 'liberal vs. conservative' thing is simply there for the politicians. People vote for "a republican" or "a democrat", and they don't pay any attention to wether he is a piece of trash. It's all compounded by these very same politicians...they convince everyone to not look at the person (as a political candidate) but at their party affiliation. To get rid of crooked politicians, we need to forget about 'republican' or 'democrat' and start voting for someone who's honest.

You are joking right? you are equating the nanny state with Democrats? where did you pull that out of? Dems didnt invent wire tapping bro. The ACLU which fights this kind of thing all the time is a notoriously liberal group. If there is any blame ( and there is enough to go around) You should look in the conservative mirror.

You're completely missing the point. First of all, republicans and conservatives tend to be more libertarian on these types of issues. Liberals and democrats tend to put government revenues over personal liberty. It is the democrat love of big government and increased revenues taken from out of the pockets of the people that inspire this kind of money grabbing scheme. Republicans generally prefer to keep off your back. New York is a nanny state and Nassau County has had a long tradition of republican government up until fairly recently. This is just part of what we get for letting the democrats run things. Now we all pay higher taxes as well, and Nassau owes more than it did 8 years ago. Read the NIFA report. See what Ed Mangano has to say. We need to DUMP SUOZZI and democrat legislators if you want to see improvements.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Cancer

If you want to avoid having a row with someone, get out and about as much as possible today so you can work off all your nervous energy. If you stay in one place for too long you'll be in danger of becoming moody, and possibly even a right old crosspatch. You might also lose your temper with loved ones who are being bolshie or who have the audacity to disagree with you about something. Lighten up, Cancer!
