Nashville is just plain over-rated. If you're a straight christian couple who can afford an upper middle class home, then this is an ideal city for you. Otherwise, just stay away.
by "christian" you must mean bible illiterate church goer who smiles a lot.

Hey Charlie Girl, sorry, but you are just plain stupid. Visiting a city is not the same as living in it. Nashville has to the one of the worst cities I have ever LIVED IN (for one painful year). I actually was dumb enough to believe it would be hospitable and friendly - it is - if you visit or if you are a native. HOWEVER, it is a known fact that the town is VERY exclusive and prejudice against transplants (except maybe those in music who help pay for its crappy town) I moved from Los Angeles, CA to get away from the hustle, bustle, cost and rudeness which our "much sunnier than Nashville state" is known for. Sadly, I saw none of the southern hospitality that I was in search of. After one year I have returned to LA, prouder than ever to say I am a Cali girl.
There are hundreds of stories form others who went there for the same reasons, only to return to where they cam from. Why? Number one reason, Nashville is clicky, redneck, exclusive, and, they will admit, they don't like people from California.
Lastly, the weather in Nashville SUCKS! Sunshine? Yeah, sure, after the rain, which is damn near everyday. The pollen count is one of the worst in the nation, and the town, well, just plain boring unless your a Vandy student or musician.
I, too, have traveled throughout the states and have lived in several towns on both coasts. Trust me when I say NASHVILLE SUCKS!
Sorry, chica. Grow up a little and move out of your redneck town and get a taste of the real world. Until then, enjoy your beer for breakfast, hick town! Later y'all!
I agree! I'm from the true south and TN is NO WHERE near the true southern hospitality. I moved there from Ca and hated every second of it in TN. Moved back to Ca. Nashville is rude, crime ridden, filthy, dangerous etc. And it's not cheap as they lead you to believe. The only good thing about Nashville IS the Transplants. Brentwood anyone?

Nashville does indeed suck. It doesn't suck for a select group of elites, students, professionals, locals and anyone who loves to drink in bars. Otherwise it's pretty much a trap set to get people from all over to move here and get their money syphoned off them by a Yankee mayor no less, only to find out how bad it sucks, mainly on a social level, unless as stated before, one likes to imbibe on a regular basis and listen to endless covers of country hits played to loudly. I live across the street from a hard core local. They have a style here, and a definite hustle. It's also basically an oligarchy, you have to be in a relationship with someone on the "inside" , preferably marriage, to be considered" family" or you are always an outsider. The only way Im digging in here for another decade is if the guy next door puts a ring on it, otherwise, there is no point in living here beyond the 5 or so years one might try a place. We don't even have a true International Airport here if you can believe that! Charlotte NC has direct flights to Europe but we do not!

Nashville is a complete craphole. I am from the mid-atlantic (Maryland). I lived in TX, San Antonio for three years and liked it. I figured TX is the south so I'd like Nashville also. Wrong. This place is just not ready for prime time. The downtown is completely dead. The Gulch neighborhood that everyone raves about is a complete joke. There's no culture in this place except for the commercialized country music scene. The people seem nice enough but are not sophisticated. There's no nuance to this place. The people who are well off are just interested in how big their house is.

I come from Bethesda, MD where the average median income is close to $200K. People are more than happy to live in small houses worth $1+ million because the place is rich in culture. I cannot wait until I get out of this place!

I agree with the majority here.
I moved here 3 years ago and yet I hate it since the very first month... I got here.

I have lived in the Tropical places and the North of the States.
And all of them are pretty nice and you do see a lot of diversity.

People don't want to admit that in Nashville there's a huge LACK OF culture!
The racism is very noticeable.
Also people will look at you weird if you speak another language.
There's NOTHING do to. Unless its to EAT AND EAT AND GET FAT.
You will be super bored here.
If you tell me its a good place to work and save money forget about it because if you want to become depress and have nothing to do but the same stuff then go for it. I think overall the US has a lot of states like this if you want to be part of it then feel free... otherwise DONT EVEN COME TO VISIT !
OH and Nashville is the Music City? YEA RIGHT! they wont even bring international musicians here! you will be sooo bored! all you get its stupid country musicians who dont even live here. The only one's who do are the producers and the artists will come and record but they dont even PLAY here.

So it SUCKS!
So does the food...

and Yes I'm moving this year! Finally!

My wife and I just moved out of Nashville after living there for a year, and I feel like I've just been released from prison! I am so much happier now! Every morning I wake up just glad to be FREE of Nashville! I've lived in a number of places here and abroad, but never anywhere as horrible as Nashville. I can't even begin to describe it, so I will just say please stay away! I feel sorry for anyone born there that doesn't realize how awful the place really is.

nashville is the fifth circle of hell. Every loser who tried to be something in a northern city came here to spew meaningless drivel and die slowly while listening to bad music and eating worse food. A nashvillian wouldn't shoot you straight if his mother was on fire but maybe if his crystal meth was. Attention angel investors stay away from this hovel unless you want to piss your money away on self important lazy entitled douchebags and their non ideas that will never generate a single dime. This city lacks the political will to accomplish anything worthwhile. I live in Boston. .. you know.... a real city with real people up to interesting and important things. We blaze trails. We are a financial hub. You are a backwoods settlement surrounded by strip malls and poverty. Good luck in 2014.

Do you think that the meth labs would be in Nashville. That would just be plain dumb. No, the meth labs are in Knoxville. Yeah, Knoxville is pretty much the worst thing ever.
