Nashville is not the exact same as every other place. Despite the fact that a few morons posting on this thread call it home, it is far less "suckier" than many other areas like: Miami, Philadelphia, Newark, Cleveland, Detroit, Buffalo, and Memphis. Those cities also happen to each have the highest percentage of low income residents in the US, which would make Nashville "richer." I'm sure that you can see now how you were wrong.
Just a few more facts to discredit your above statements: Nashville happens to be sunnier than Buffalo, NY; Seattle, WA; Pittsburgh, PA; Portland, OR; and Columbus, OH. It is also cloudier than Yuma, AZ; Redding, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; El Paso, TX; Pueblo, CO; and Key West, FL. You're welcome!
Do you really want to take me on? Really?

The only way to make that happen is to close all of the local strip clubs.

Always did, always will. Mean spirited, too many hos, too many baby bangers. Southeast hub for child pornography. Too much money with too little manners. All that fake 'howdee doo' nonsense just to stab a knife in your back. Artificial Christians. Hand in your pocket all the time. Gossip is a religion. Pretty much an all around loss. And the those dirty post WWII buildings. Yuck. You'd think some of those alligator boot clad millionaires could afford a galleon or two of paint. And before you attempt to respond...save your fingers. I never read the replies. I come to these pages to blow off steam and am always amazed at the insane hillbilly mentality that comes to these pages to fight about the title at the top of the page. What a joke! You made Foxworthy rich! lol

Hey Charlie Girl, sorry, but you are just plain stupid. Visiting a city is not the same as living in it. Nashville has to the one of the worst cities I have ever LIVED IN (for one painful year). I actually was dumb enough to believe it would be hospitable and friendly - it is - if you visit or if you are a native. HOWEVER, it is a known fact that the town is VERY exclusive and prejudice against transplants (except maybe those in music who help pay for its crappy town) I moved from Los Angeles, CA to get away from the hustle, bustle, cost and rudeness which our "much sunnier than Nashville state" is known for. Sadly, I saw none of the southern hospitality that I was in search of. After one year I have returned to LA, prouder than ever to say I am a Cali girl.

There are hundreds of stories form others who went there for the same reasons, only to return to where they cam from. Why? Number one reason, Nashville is clicky, redneck, exclusive, and, they will admit, they don't like people from California.

Lastly, the weather in Nashville SUCKS! Sunshine? Yeah, sure, after the rain, which is damn near everyday. The pollen count is one of the worst in the nation, and the town, well, just plain boring unless your a Vandy student or musician.

I, too, have traveled throughout the states and have lived in several towns on both coasts. Trust me when I say NASHVILLE SUCKS!

Sorry, chica. Grow up a little and move out of your redneck town and get a taste of the real world. Until then, enjoy your beer for breakfast, hick town! Later y'all!

Perhaps the hostility and prejudice that you experienced was because you have poor social skills. That's just a guess. I have many friends and colleagues who relocated from other states and countries, and I have heard from them repeatedly how much they enjoy Nashville.

Nashville has a great deal to offer in the areas of sports, shopping, and nightlife. However, it would likely be boring to someone who lacks the ability to make friends to enjoy those things with.

If you ever decide to relocate to another southern state, consider dropping the pompous attitude, You'll probably enjoy your stay much more.

I was born and raised here. I travel for a living and my home is here. I just returned from a 2 year stay in LA. I can understand why wouldn't like Nashville. But that's not true for most California folks who move here. I flew back and forth every Monday and Friday for 2 years with people who were relocating to Franklin to work for Nissan.

They were more than happy to get out of LA, stop paying 30% of their income to the state of California, ready to get away from the teachers, firemen and nurses' unions, crazy Jerry Brown, 400,000 prisoners, a bankrupt state, underfunded pensions, earthquakes, smog, wildfires and plastic surgery..and frankly most liked the idea of being able to speak English as their first language again.

Yes there are a few rednecks still hanging around. I argue that you can stay away from 99% of them just like I could stay away from the gangbangers and ever more threatening the rich Valley teenagers driving mommy's Denali. Everything's a trade off. Go where you feel the best. I'll take Nashville..

Charlie girl, you are wrong..I dislike Nashville also. It is a provincial wanna-be cosmopolitan. In the process, you have hillbillies here trying to be something they're not. As per the attitude, wow...Nashville has nothing to offer to have such a bad attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if you have one either...lol.

Bottom line: Nashville sucks!!

Totally agree. Just sold my house and can't wait to watch Nashville and the state of TN disappear in my mirror. I have never lived in such a snobbish place than here. Nashville has not and never will ever deserve this. It isn't Manhattan and even there it isn't as bad as here. The policies of the state continue to foster economic class separation which fuels the racism and stupidity and will never allow TN or Nashville to ever have any form of culture except for the current white trash and the group above it white clutter.

Nashville is just plain over-rated. If you're a straight christian couple who can afford an upper middle class home, then this is an ideal city for you. Otherwise, just stay away.

How do we then find out what the best places to live are in the US? There's some "top 10 cities" articles.
I think the problem is that this is the south/country/hillbilly/conser vative/*religious* area. The more religion you have in a state or even country, the more f'ed up it is.

Maybe the best state/city would be where there's the greatest proportion of non-religious people - just a guess.
